Hi My Fellow Entrepreneurs,
I was thinking a lot about what it takes to be successful as an entrepreneur. I have started and operated businesses most of my adult life. For most of that time, my own businesses have been my sole source of income. I can't think of any other way for me to live. This is not because it's easy, it's because it is my "calling" or my passion or however you want to name it
What are the most important qualities an entrepreneur has to have? Well maybe it's different for everybody, but I don't think so. It isn't money or intelligence or some formal education, although those don't hurt. I think it is courage and persistence. Confidence is good, but courage is better. There are times in any endeavor when you are going to hit the wall. In any successful company, there are many times you will hit the wall and from all outward appearances, it will appear that the smartest thing to do is to shut everything down and go find a job.

These are the times when the wishful thinker will give up and go home. It is the time when those of us with a solid dose of courage and persistence will dig in and fight harder. Your character will be tested and you will grow as a person in ways that you will not find in any job where you are working for someone else. Courage and persistence are not feelings. It doesn't matter whether you feel great or brave. It only matters what you do. If you act courageously when everyone around you and even you think "this is not going to work" then you will grow and expand and you will never be the same.
Every entrepreneur will experience failure. Over and over again. It is the persistence that will bring you through to where you need to be. If you keep at it, you will become a different person. You will become the type of person that is a success at creating and running a business.
I feel honored to be here with all of you who are courageous enough to make the effort to dig in and make changes in your lives. Doing what you are doing here in WA will change your life in many ways. Not only will you find an independent life style, but you will have an incredible leap in self-esteem as you persist in breaking through barriers that are really just in your mind.
