Using Tables in WordPress
I've used various platforms(Dream Weaver/Front Page/etc) in the past to build websites and WordPress is relatively new for me. I wanted to insert a table into one of my post and I didn't see a way to do it with the few options on the dashboard. So I found a very good plugin called TablePress. Here are the instuctions:
- Go to Plugins and click on Add New.
- Enter TablePress in the search box.
- Install the TablePress plugin.
- Activate Plugin.
- Click on TablePress on the side menu of the Dashboard.
- Click Add New Table.
- Enter Table Name, Description(Optional), Number of Rows and Number of Columns.
- Click the Add Table button.
- Simply type your data in the table, note that by default the first row will be the Header of the table. (There are lots of options here at this point)
- Click on Preview button to see what table will look like. (It will look sort of funny in the preview so don't get worried).
- Next click Save Changes button when you are happy with your table.
- Then bring up the page you want to insert table.
- Their will be a new button on the Word Editor task bar.
- Click this button select the table.
- It will insert the table onto your page, it will be like a tag though.
- Update and view your page.
Hope this helps someone, Good Luck!

Thanks CCJ your explanation was simple. I did get stuck right at the end. I did number 12, but did not know what I was meant to be looking for on number 13. What is the 'Word Editor Task Bar'?. Many thanks.
I make them myself with HTML, I like to keep the amount of plugins low
Create easy HTML table - explained how to
When you do not need tables all around your website, you better create one yourself, when you use a lot of tables, then a plugin is very useful
Very good idea. Last time, I created a table in powerpoint first. After that, I copied & pasted at paint and made it as a image. Finally, I uploaded it to my website.
Wow...that seems like quite a bit of work. I was just about to follow that route, but I just knew there had to be an easier way.
