Hello, Fellow Members!

This is a post to help you in case you are an Amazon Associate and add their affiliate links to your site/s. I really do like being an affiliate of theirs, but I wanted to share this.

A few months ago, I had two (2) websites listed on Amazon to which I was adding affiliate links. (Each site had its own name and number.)

About one month ago, I created a new website. Well, actually, I transferred the former domain's contents to the current one. I had not thought to add the new website's name to Amazon. (That was a mistake.)

Three days ago, Amazon decided to review my sites. (One is no longer up and running and the other was the one that the content was transferred from.) They advised that they were not able to access either site. I do not know why they could not access the one that had the information transferred from it.

Nevertheless, my account was deactivated. I felt like crying when I was advised that I had to remove each and every link that was on my site and add the links that were related to the new website; otherwise, I would not get any revenue from orders that were placed.

I had to reapply to be an Associate of Amazon. I did so last night and everything went through immediately. I have 18 posts that need to have the Amazon links removed and the new links added. As you can imagine, this will take quite a few hours to do.

I was glad that I could reapply and resume my dealings with Amazon. I really do like being an associate of theirs.

So, I've written this post to save you the time and trouble of having to remove and add new links, in the event that you create a new site. It is best to do this: If you create a new site and are an associate of Amazon, remember to add the new site so no issues of this nature arise.

Warm regards,

Cathy

Hi Cathy,
Thanks for sharing this important info. I am also an Amazon Associate but with little success so far. I wonder if it could be that my website is ranked on page 150 by Google (lol)?

Bill

Hello BillandSue,

You're welcome! : )

Hi Cathy,
I must confess I did something very stupid with Amazon. When they talked about a 24 hour period, for some reason, I was thinking that was all the time you to sell an affiliate product after it was "linked" to your website.

I finally wised up and read their program rules and I understand now that the 24 hour rule allows a prospective customer just 24 hours to buy that product on our website and for us, with the advertising site, to get a commission.

If they don't buy within 24 hours after "clicking" on our website, then we don't get the commission.

The product always stays available for someone else though.

Thanks for reading this.

Bill
