Comment Backlinks
This is probably the easiest and fastest way to start getting a few backlinks to your site. It will also start to get you noticed by other people who are interested in your niche.
Let's say your niche is cooking and food. All you need to do is go Google up a food blog or cooking blog and look around until you find yourself about three to five sites that really interest you and allow you to leave comments.
You will notice on most sites, you have to fill in your name, email, and website. It will look something like this:
If you do fill in the website, which is almost always optional, it will make your name into a link that leads back to your site. So, if someone likes your comment or wants to learn more about you, they can click that link and it will take them to your site.
You can leave a comment on my site (BE SURE TO FILL IN YOUR SITE IN THE WEBSITE SECTION) if you want to mutually help each other out. You may also post your blog/website in the comments section (on this blog in WA).

I was not fully aware of this trick and never used it on "the comment thread" until recently. So in my case, it was lack of knowledge in SEO. I still have a lot to learn in SEO (as you can imagine).
