I Can’t See!
It is snowing here in So Cal again, and on the drive in to work this morning I got turned back, the road was closed due to snow and that explained the crazy amount of traffic in our little town heading in both directions. Those traveling west were hoping to go down the pass to avoid the mess on the other part of the pass. And then those coming over from another interstate that was closed hoping to travel on. So I went home and called the Boss.
I said, hey boss I can’t see! He said what? Are you Okay? I said, yes I am just fine however I can not see myself coming into work today, Bye!
So I have extra time to do my thing today, Yea Haw.
I have been wanting to create a post of last Saturday here and my adventure playing in the fresh snow that I woke up to. So here we go.
This tree is certainly not one that would commonly be seen like this, snow all around it and on the branches and such. This tree is used to 40 to 55 Celsius in the summer months, rain we get in August to September so this tree is used to rationing its water supply. After all this melts, these trees are going to be in heaven for a bit.
Here is my old School Rue getting me in and out of the snow playground in the upper desert, was an absolute blast playing in the snow. The little boy came out of me for sure.
My good ol GetUrDone Rue having as much fun as I was. This was the parking lot area of Dollar General store, where a bunch of children were playing in the snow making snow angels, and it looked like a snow ball fight was brewing. The little boys were making up a gaggle of snow balls!
This was an awesome find, by mid-afternoon most of the snow on her had melted off.
I saw this after church Sunday and had to turn around and capture this not so frosty the Snowman. Looks more like a 420 frosty! It was amazing to see all the fun the locals here in the upper desert were having playing in the snow.
This is photo from Saturday afternoon, I live about 20 miles north of here, I drive by this every work day and I so wanted to drive down there Saturday and get my own photos, it is so Fred Flintstones here and with the snow, just wonderful photo opportunity. However, the pass was closed and going around the other way would have sucked up most of the day. And that was not on my to do list so I had to pass on that. I found this picture online, and share it now.
If you look close underneath the bridge the railroad cars are traveling on, you will see some folks having fun with their off-road vehicles. My Rue and I play down there quite a bit from time to time.
I captured this photo Sunday after church also, usually we will see snow just on the very top of this mountain range, not all the way down and into the valleys. Big Bear Lake, Silverwood lake, and Lake arrowhead are all up there, mer hour drive in the summer. Now there is no way in or out of there until they clear the roads.
Good news is, the snow resorts had plenty of snow to play in, my son loves snow boarding, the not so good news is we do not know for sure when we can go play.
Buy the way, to the left of this photo is the way to Johnson valley where the King of the Hammers race is held, about an hours drive from where I took this photo. Ever get a chance to go, go!
And in parting, this is view I look at every day from my place. I have a little fire pit and when the wind is not bonkers, in the evening I’ll enjoy a warm fire as I watch the sun set, right side of the photo, and enjoy the wonderful light show the sun gives the sky and then watch Jupiter appear in the night sky.
I hope ya all enjoy the pictures of my little part of the world here and our temporary winter wonderland.
See ya all next adventure,
Super David Scott, the Zam Man.

These are great pictures! Thanks for sharing Scott. Are you in the Mojave? It's incredible to see a Joshua tree covered in snow. How wild! You certainly have a beautiful view. Looks like a piece of heaven.
Susan
Yes I am up in the Mojave dessert not far from Barstow, north of San bernardino California. Is it not totally wild to see a Joshua tree with snow on and around it? So awesome.
Glad you enjoyed the phtotos
What a beautiful spot...I went through Barstow once upon a time. I just love the Cali desert - no other place like it in the world. Yes, that Joshua was awesome! Thx for the a view into your world.
It is different here for sure, but tonight after the sun set, I have Jupiter in the sky to admire. Very beautiful in many ways.
Yes, last night they were very bright in the night sky. I got to watch the last 10 or 20 minutes of the sun set last night after the ridiculously long drive home.
I have an app on my I-Pad mini that shows all the stuff in the night sky, satellites and all. Fun app.
I like watching the sunset, amazing here in the upper desert, but I just as thoroughly enjoy watching the stars coming to light up until I freeze. And having that app allows me to know what start is what up there.
Wow, Zam Man! Seeing is believing, my friend!
Some wonderful images, indeed, and your Rue is awesome! Have fun while you can!
Jeff
I was thinking your place there would be buried like we are here in SoCal. hahha, ya I like that Rue a bunch. Now to get my 73 Suburban 4x4 online again. She is an absolute beast
No! We were overcast, but that was it, my friend! It was time for you to have some fun, my friend!
Jeff
I love taking photos, got a feeling that is going to be a future niche for me, help pay for the habit. Lol

I could imagine, here we get a 3 to 4 month season to go play up in the mountains at the ski resorts, heck this time of year we go skiing one day, surfboarding the next, play in the sand with our dune buggies the day after that.
It was awesome. Now when the roads open to the ski resorts my son and I are going snow boarding. We only get about 3 to 4 months of this and then back to summer time fun at the lakes.
I always do, my new I-phone has 10,000 photos in it already. Well, she was new a year ago, hahahaa.

Beautiful pictures, and a bit unusual for your part of the world, I'd guess. Glad you had a chance to have some fun with it.
Very unusual for here so it was super fun to grab those shots while it was available. Super fun for me, and I got to play in my little ol Rue.
