Think it, Ink it

I have been at WA for a few years now and have not been active for a while within the the community, I am not sure why. I moved countries and had to re establish my self back home after two years away. I am not sure that is an excuse though. I really love the WA community and have learnt such a lot. Still a number of things that I have not mastered yet.

One of the things I struggle with is blogging regularly and I am assured one will then get traffic to your site...when you blog regularly. This has alluded me! I wonder if anyone else has the same problem?

I have tried buying scripts written by others within a topic suitable for my niche and adapting them to my needs. But I did not feel that was authentic and it only filled up 5 days and I was back at square one again. Then a very kind WA member reviewed my site liked the information but commented on the items I had not really written. Mmmmm... there is lesson there!

Believe it or not one of my goals is to write... I have written children's books... and have a few on the go. But never really felt that I could call my self a writer.

So what I wanted to share with you is a course I am doing at the moment on line, Write Now Mindset by Sam Horn I found the course as a member of Learning Strategies. I am sure you can google it.

I have completed two 90 minute sessions that are currently running and have been given strategies to change the way I think about writing. I thought I would share a few and hope that you might find them useful.

Sam Horn suggests that we are all time poor and that we will have the best intentions but often don't sit down consistently and make time to write, she says take a journal where ever you go and if you think it, ink it. So when ever you have an idea write it down straight away.

I tried this idea this morning while I was driving the car to work, but I spoke it into the voice memo on my phone, I just played it back to night and I actually sounded quite coherent at 7.00am!! I talked about some goals I need to achieve and one was to be more involved in the WA community and really work to monetise my site and write about my writing journey. So here I am!

Sam talks about identifying habits and Identifying goals, she says writing can be apart of your daily routine just keep putting those thoughts down and if you are writing a book, get some index cards and write you ideas down. You don't need to worry about the sequence just put the ideas down as they come and eventually you will have enough cards to put on a board and organise your ideas. Sam says that it is always surprising to her that when going through this activity she finds the progression of the book falls into place.

As I go through the course I will share the knowledge. Perhaps you have some ideas on the topic. I hope you are all prospering at WA.

best wishes,

Jackie

Best of luck to you!

I too have been struggling with consistent writing. Thank you for the tip. Think it, ink it! I like that!

Thanks for sharing! I've been struggling to write and blog, especially since English is not my native language. I will start writing in my journal today. Looking forward to learning from you.

Great post! I have been procrastinating myself. 1 or 2 posts a week is definitely not the target I had initially set out for myself! I like the idea of carrying around a notepad because I often find myself coming up with great ideas and then when trying to organize my thoughts later, have completely forgotten the brilliance that flashed across my mind earlier in the day. Have a nice day!

Good luck keep at it.
