Thanks for this I enjoyed it

Hi Amanda, I'm glad you enjoyed the post, do you think you'll try it?

Sure will thanks

I have the opinion why worry about the things you cannot change and focus on what you can change, could have done with doing it years ago though but no matter I got there in the end,, wish you a very happy new year

Katie, I'm with you 100%, you remind me of the Serenity Prayer. I mentioned before I don't get stressed a lot (I've delegated that to my wife) but it still feels wonderful doing my couple of minutes of meditation. I'm on day 4, and it's easily becoming a part of my everyday life.

Katie, have you read Tom's article? If you do will you try it for yourself? If you try it and like it, will you please leave a comment there.

Thanks. Happy New Year.

sorry I am just getting back to you was away for the New Year, no sure if I have read Toms article but I do take time to meditate each day

I haven't missed a day and I'm really enjoying it. Back to work tomorrow, I may have to double up and meditate twice a day.

lol back to work for me tomorrow to,, hope you ease in ok without added stress,, I do find that people's lives seem to get so busy they do not have enough time to wind down hope you have a good week

Stress? Who has stress? Never heard the word before? Aaaahhhhhh! Read the post and shared a comment. Thanks for pointing me to it.

Hey Allyn, thanks for looking.

It's an excellent process. I just need to start doing it - like so many.

"I just need to start doing it"
How about right Now!
5 minutes, no special equipment. It'll make your whole day.
C'mon, I'll do it with you.

Good idea, but didn't work this morning. Missed my time with you. My wife and daughter-in-law have been painting the lower level the last 5 days, which means I have charge of the little ones. It's been tough finding even a few minutes of quiet. Naps come in a couple hours.

"Naps come in a couple hours" Count me in... oh you meant the little ones.
Meditate for 5 minutes and then nap as long as they let you.
How's that for a plan?

LOL! Yes, I did mean the little ones. But, I had an eye doctor appointment at noon and had a chance to meditate while waiting for my eyes to dilate. Very relaxing - almost did have that nap! Interesting that I started feeling the blood moving in and out of my hands.

Would you recommend Meditation to a friend?

Hmmm...don't know that I know enough about it to recommend it at this point. I've never had a family member, close friend or relative who has used meditation regularly so it's not something in my sphere of knowledge. I just asked my wife, son, and daughter-in-law if they knew anyone who practiced meditation and they all said "no" also.

It's not something in our background or something we know enough about to recommend at this point.

That wasn't the question.
You tried it for a couple of minutes, without knowing any more than Tom's article. You said you had a pleasant experience. If that's true, would you recommend it to a friend?
Which by the way is exactly what I did. Tom wrote the article so I would try Meditation, I put it on my website to tell my friends (like you) about what I had found.
I'm not looking for somebody that practices meditation, I was looking for friends that needed to help relieve their Stress. It worked for me and worked for you... didn't it?

Trust me, you know enough about it right now to point somebody to Tom's article on my website... don't you?

The answer to that question is "yes".

Great! 8^)

Happy New Year in 20 minutes (at least where you are)!

Allyn, when you were writing this I was in WA chat, with Kyle and a bunch of other members. I left chat about 10 minutes before midnight to spend time with the wife and watch Dick Clark's Rockin New Years Eve on tv. Taylow Swift was on.
At midnight my wife and I watched the fireworks show they have in Prospect Park Brooklyn from our livingroom window. Like I told Kyle, not as cold as being outside and he pointed out less crowds.

Here's wishing us all a Healthy, Happy, Stress Free, Prolific & Prosperous New Year.

Wow! That's great. We had a very quiet midnight here. The three boys had watched some neighborhood fireworks from their bedroom window around 9pm. They fell asleep, my wife fell asleep on the couch, my son was snoring away, and only me, my daughter-in-law, and the 1-year old were awake.

So, here we are. Day 1 of 2015. To us!

Day 1 of 2015, and I've spent all morning planning on how I can get back to 1985.
Read all about it.

Awesome Phil-

Hey Tom, thanks for making an appearance here. I know you're busy on your website.
Folks, this is my friend Tom who wrote the guest blog for my website, and got me started doing my daily meditation.
If you have the time and want some more info on meditation, visit Tom's website at http://personaldevelopmenttools.net/meditation-for-optimum-health

Thanks Phil, nice blog.

"There are six components of wellness: Proper weight and diet, proper exercise, breaking the smoking habit, control of alcohol, stress management and periodic exams".
- Kenneth H. Cooper.

I don't know about periodic exams, maybe he means self-examination.
Perhaps if we looked more into our inner self more often we may expose some inner demons, imagined or real, that may be responsible for stress and by facing up to them become more stress-free.

Hi Brian, I know that Health & Wellness are dear to your heart. I've been to your website many times. I like Kenneth Cooper's '6 Components of Wellness', I've made a note of them. I suppose drugs (perscription & recreational) could fall under Alcohol. Where would you place the toxins that are being added to our food and adding to our illness?
I don't know about you, but I see another blog there. ;^)

Thanks Phil, appreciate the reply. Best wishes for 2015.

Yes, I need this, thanks very much Phil, as I am a bit stressed... ha..ha.. before going for a short trip. :)

The funny thing is, I'm not a person that gets stressed. I've been doing deep breathing exercises every morning and evening and several times a day, but I still wanted to try meditation.
I think everybody needs this and could benefit from it.
Please Jewel, give it a try and let us know what you think.

Ok, thanks Phil, I should try;) I am very lazy woman, lol. ;) Btw, talking about meditation, you may want to read Jojo's blog, he is writing an ebook on meditation:
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/jojoleong/blog/working-on-my-ebook-for-spirituality-meditation

Jewel, I'm lazy too, we're talking about sitting quietly and breathing, not moving the refrigerator. lol
I have read Jojo's blog about his Ebook, and to be honest with you it's a little deeper than I'm looking to go.
I'm on Day #3 of doing my 5 minute Meditation, and it's great.

I am also lazy, I just came back from a short holiday and I feel very lazy now, lol. :) This subject of meditation is indeed interesting. :)

Interesting, yes, but the results are in the application of what we learn.

I once followed Fit for Life diet. Which advocates eating until you are full, and how foods are combined. It worked amazingly well, no calorie counting, portion weighing, etc. It was great. I enjoyed reading your friend's post. Left a reply.

Thank you Gordi. I'm off to check your reply now.
You're not following Fit for Life any longer, how come?
I expect to follow 'Eat To Live' for life.

It's a long story, but getting back on it in the new year. It's so easy to follow, and you never feel deprived.

I'll check it out in the bookstore tomorrow. It sounds familiar to me.

It's written by Harvey and Marilyn Diamond

Way more stressed than a bum living on a boat should be. Great post! I think I'll finally give it a try.

Yep, that's exactly what I said when I read Tom's article, "I think I'll finally give it a try". It felt great. I can't think of any reason I wouldn't do it again tomorrow.

Good post.

Very interesting Phil. I have been involved in various forms of meditation for a long time. I've no doubt that it can be a very rewarding aspect of life.

Hey Alastair, I've of course known about Meditation for years. But, I never really tried it for myself, until Tom offered to do a Guest Blog for my website. How could I say, "No"?
If I'm going to suggest my readers try it, I owe it to them to try it.... right?

I'm not talking about becoming a Buddhist monk, just introducing some relaxation and stress relief into people lives. It can't hurt right?

How are you doing my freind, I hope all is well?

Yes I'm fine thanks Phil, and I trust you are too ?

Getting better every day.

Nice post ... great info. M

Thanks Melody, let Tom take you on really nice 30 minute vacation. I did my first meditation session just a little while ago.
