Be A Light For Others

A lighthouse can mean the difference of life or death to a sailor. When the weather is inclement it serves to warn whoever is steering the ship that they are approaching danger. It guides and directs them to safe harbor.

Likewise, we as individuals need to be the guiding light for others who may be lost or just "floundering" and not knowing which way to turn. The beacon of the lighthouse gives direction from a great distance. The lower lights help guide those along the shore towards the path they need to go. Whether this be help with decisions in their life or help with their WA business, we should keep those lower lights burning to help and be of service to all.

Having grown up on Islands, my wife also loves lighthouses. We have a rather large front porch, so she asked me if I could build a lighthouse to put there. I started out with a scale model (pictured below at the left) and got the lighting and beacon working the way I wanted before starting on the full-size version. This model now serves as a great conversation piece up on the ledge with other light houses, all wired to the same control switch in the living room.

For the porch size unit I wired to two 3V solar panels, so it comes on at dark and stays on for several hours until the batteries run down and get re-charged the next day. It is well after midnight before that happens, so it serves to light the path to the front door during the times we would want or expect visitors.

Both of these light houses were contructed primarily from "junk" and building scraps that I otherwise would have thrown out. I did have to purchase some low voltage super bright LED's since the ones in my "junk" box were older and not has bright, All total I have about $12 expenditure but many hours of labor of love.

Sitting beside the lighthouse on the porch is a sign that I carved out to remind everyone who comes to our door and reads it that we all should be reaching out and helping others, just as our Maker helps and guides us.

In Wealthy Affiliates, we are all working at things we don’t fully understand. The training videos and instructions are comprehensive and well put together, but the help we get from the Community is what makes this such a great Company to be involved with and what makes it possible for us all to succeed and reach our goals

Let your lower lights keep burning”.

Well done on making the lighthouse for your porch, it's beautiful and must have taken a lot of skill. Yes, the community here at WA is wonderful and great we can all help each other

Thank you Kathy Anne. The model making is a hobby of mine to use otherwise "throw-away" stuff into something useful.
Archie

That was well said, Archie! The community is everything. It is hard to lose when there are a 2 million+ tutors, shrinks, and shoulders to lean on.

Canty

Fully agree, Canty. This WA community gives more support than any others I have experienced.
Archie

Wow, Archie!

You have some mad skills, my friend!

I love the poem too!

Very well done, and a very good message to all of us!

God Bless You and yours!

Jeff🙏

Thanks, Jeff. After publishing, the text basically landed where it wanted to, rather than the way I laid it out. I need to go back and edit now that the help I am getting is making more sense. I like the way your photos do on your blogs but the porch lighthouse was just too tall for me to handle. A learning experience.
I like to do these projects just from junk laying around the garage. I did buy some of the newer and brighter LED's for the beacons but just a few dollars and "trash" laying around for the rest.
Archie

I like your style, Archie! I re-purpose all kinds of "junk" for my creations!

As for the pictures, if you click on the lower RH corner of those and move then toward the left, they will reduce and then your text will reposition itself between them!

Jeff

Thanks, Jeff. I will get on the computer and try to edit to do that.
Archie

Let me know how it goes, Archie!

Jeff

Yes, the edit worked great. Now it lines up right even on a cell phone. Thanks for the tip.
Archie

You're very welcome, Archie! Another one for here in the community blogs that I discovered is making my images 600 X 450.

Jeff

I will try that as well, Jeff.
Archie

Let me know it works out, Archie!

Jeff

Such a wonderful story Archie and what you have created in your home. Love it. The lighthouse is a great metaphor for a good way to live and a meaningful analogy for WA training and business success.
Thank you for sharing your joy.
Blessings.
Tracy

Thank you, Iam for the kind words.
Archie

Sorry, that Iam is the heading for Tracy. Blessings to you as well as you build your dream.

I love lighthouses. For me, the lighthouse has many meanings.
Guidance and directions are one of those. Even here in WA, the community guides each other. When we follow directions, we will definitely do it right.

Very well written.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Thank you Letty. You are my lighthouse each day.
