Why I am here with Wealthy Affiliate

Good morning folks!

I just reached my first month here with Wealthy Affiliate and can't believe I found something I really want to do. I am 39 years old on Tuesday and up until this point I haven't figured out for sure what it is I want to do for a living. Lol!

I am going to apologize ahead of time for the long post and will do my best to keep my story short.

I have worked a number of fun and not so fun jobs since I was 16 and have been somewhat of a workaholic since then until August 2017. My husband and I both had great jobs in upper management for a Colorado Ski resort and were doing great, but we wanted more. Something different.

We bought 42 acres in North Easter Arizona and made a crazy decision to quit our jobs, sell most of our stuff including our home in beautiful Durango Colorado and move off-grid. We had a lot of fun and learned a lot but struggled with steady work. We had also decided to have a little one so we needed something more sustainable and ended up moving closer to town.

Our dream came true and I was pregnant ! With that we knew there was going to be a lot more financial stuff to deal with and ended up moving again for a much higher paying job. We had an amazing little boy in 2019 and decided once again after only a year and a half in our new home, that we wanted to be back in the ski industry. We then moved again to Northern Utah but realized quickly that wasn't where we wanted to be. So once again (10 months later) we packed up, sold our home and moved back to Colorado. Sometimes you have to leave a place for a while to realize how much you really belong there. We are home, and this is where we want to stay!

We are having so much fun being able to raise our son in a fun mountain community, teaching him the things we love! He is definitely an outdoor loving kid and we are so happy to be in a place where we can share our favorite places and activities with him.

My husband and I's hobbies include snowboarding, dirt biking, fishing and camping and our 3 and a half year old has strongly followed our footsteps. He can't wait to get his first dirt bike and loves helping me plow the driveway with our quad! He got hooked on snowboarding by 2.5 years old and fishing last summer after he caught his first one. We took him camping his first time when he was only 10 weeks old and it continues to be our family's favorite pastime. Thank god for that, because we had to camp in our little pop up trailer for almost 7 weeks while waiting to close on our home here in Colorado. Camping in a pop up trailer with a toddler, 2 large dogs and two cats is not for everyone and it was no walk in the park, but we knew what we had to look forward to after. That made it all worth it.

I have been so fortunate to be a stay at home mom since my son was born but have been so scared of the day I get my butt back to work. My job as a stay at home mom is both challenging and yet so rewarding but getting back into the work force has terrified me. I went from a career woman, to a stay at home mom and now I have to start over. As much as I love being a stay at home mom, I feel like I have lost so much of my independence and self-worth in the fact that I have had to depend completely on my husband to take care of us financially. This is not something I am use to, even 3.5 years in. I miss being able to contribute financially and not have to pinch pennies with everything I do.

I have feared I would be starting at the bottom with any job as I am now so out of practice professionally. Along with that, I am limited on days and hours I can work as I am still full time mommy until my son starts preschool (hopefully in the next few months). The whole pandemic definitely made childcare (along with the cost) a difficult option. Waiting lists in my area are 6 months to a year out and schools are still constantly shutting down when there is an outbreak.

My husband works 10 to 12 hour days plus an hour commute each way, so I am fully responsible for all the daily kiddo and home duties which again limits me to what I can do for work. I have applied for part-time work on my husbands days off, and have been searching and applying for work from home jobs for the last 6 months. I was loosing hope with all the scams and the inability to work the days needed, when I stumbled upon Wealthy Affiliate.

My mindset was, "what the hell? Why not give the free week a try?" Wealthy Affiliate had me at, "Be your own boss" and "Find your own niche". Suddenly for the first time in a long time, I felt a weird thing... Inspiration! Motivation! Excitement! Confidence!

With camping and exploring the outdoors being my genuine "happy place", this was an easy pick when it came to finding my niche.

As I continue training and building my website, I feel so honored to be part of the WA community! I had no idea this sort of thing even existed. I'm not going to lie, I've had doubts in myself at times, but as I push through, I find my confidence and motivation grow stronger. My dream is to feel confident again and help provide for my family so we can afford to continue, and do more of the things we love.

The support and the knowledge this community has to offer is unbelievable! I still have a long way to go, but I look forward to the possibilities that lie ahead. I also really appreciate the honesty of, "This is not a get-rich-quick" idea behind it. But an "It is up to you to do the work and make it happen" push.
