Introduce yourself
It's a very good idea to introduce yourself withyour profile so that other members can interact with you properly.
I have noticed a number of number of problems with personal profiles that may put other members off responding to your blogs, questions and comments.
- Keep Your readers in mind
Long winded profiles are difficult to read and people may give up before reading the whole thing. A principle of writing for the web is that readers do not "read" they "scan". Making your profile readable is not only good practise but helps develop below your writing skills.
- Identify yourself
Calling yourself "winx23lala21" really puts people off connecting with you. Even if you don't want to reveal your name it would be more effective to give yourself a "nom de plume" and reveal it in your profile. I very often call call people "George" if they don't provide a user friendly name. My apologies to winx23lala21 if there is such a person:-))
- A bit of background
It is really nice to hear a little bit about your background, interests and skills. This helps us all develop a mental picture of you and allows us to relate, especially where we have skills and interests in common.
- What do you want to achieve
Some of the most successful online businesses are simple in concept. You may not know at the time of writing what you want to achieve and it's ok to say that. You can always update later.
So keep it reasonably short , tell us about yourself and what you want to do. AND please tell us who you are.
These are just my own views, I hope they are of use.
I will be rewriting my own terrible profile in the next couple of days))

Good tips, I will go back and re-evaluate my profile. When I see a profile that tells me nothing about the person I see no reason to include them in my network.
Quite right, make your entrance inviting, as my mom always said, the first impression is binding

Good advice and I might add (sorry), a photo of yourself vs a sunset or car or whatever is nice. It let's people know who they're "talking" to and easier to connect. ~Debbi
I am not sure that the world is ready for a photo of me but point taken. I do have a nice one taken when I was 19:-)
I will do it,
Bob
LOL. OK, we'll brace ourselves. LOL. We never like our own photos.
