Building connections
Today I woke at 6 a.m with an idea in my head.
I could strengthen my website by building connections
- with other sites
- with experts in a field
My idea was that I would email, phone, write to:
- Web sites
- Universities
- Clubs
- Associations
- WA community
The idea of this is to build a network of cooperation.
I will ask web sites if I can feature a link and an image to their site and ask if they would like to share some posts and possibly provide a guest poster on an occasional or permanent basis.
Universities and colleges have a wealth of experience, knowledge and skills. If they could provide a expert poster this will be a win win situation. Our sites will benefit by quality and regular content. An expert poster would benefit by enhancing their reputation and building their curriculums vitae.
Clubs and societies have large numbers of people who like talking about their hobby or speciality. Guest posters will add hugely to the content on your site.
WA community. Well this is the obvious one. We will all benefit by sharing site links (where site content is appropriate). There are experts in the WA community who could provide unique and valuable information on a wide range of subjects. We have hobbyists, sportsmen, writers etc etc
Obviously there will have to be checks on the quality and voracity of content. You would have to build up trust but it could be done.
Of course these guest posts would have to be "not for profit" and would have to be proof read before going live.
There may be problems I have not considered, may be you could comment.
I am looking for two guest posters and one with a permanent column/page/blog on the following topics:
- Photography (preferably with a bias toward south east Asia)
- Food reviews (Penang and the northern states)
- Recipes (South East Asian cuisine)
- Angling (Malaysia and worldwide)
I could provide unique guest post on:
- Anything Penang related
- Wordpress
- Building websites
- Humourous posts
I hope this stirs up a little interest.

Surely, without connection is like a man alone in the island. That is how you can expand your network. Great idea...go for it!
Well I have already had two connections sort of accepted, but only one can be used at the moment. But that's fine as I am looking for about six. That would add variety and traffic to my site. Maybe with my second site you might like to do a guest post or two.
The site will be about building websites, seo and other such mysteries:-) of course I would reciprocate if there was anything relevant I could contribute to your site.
Interesting concept, Bob. I live in South East Asia, Thailand actually. Keen to see how it works out for you.
In Phuket, where it is less the land of smiles than Chiangmai. I was up in CM two weeks ago for 8 days. It is much friendlier there than down here. We have good friends who live in Penang. Must get over there to check it out.
I must admit that Phuket has changed a lot over the years. It's great down on the south end of the Island near Rawai. I haven't been for a couple of years as all the menus now seem to be in Russia, of which I have little.
Penang, it's a change of gears.
