Thomas Edison once said:

“I haven’t failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”

We all know what happen when he found that 10.001 time.

How many of us have been in his shoes, probably not 10,000 times, but we all were looking for that elusive 1 time that worked. I am, of course, talking about finding that one system, to give it a word, which would work for us.

I came upon this quote last week at church during the sermon. I can’t remember the rest of the sermon because this quote got me really thinking.

“This really summed up my life”, I thought.

“How many times have I tried to start a business and failed?”

Personally over the years I have tried many different ways to earn an income. Got my fingers burnt a few times by promises of get rich schemes, pyramid and multiple layer schemes. Don’t get me wrong there are some that work for some people, “Avon” for instance offer its agents multi layers where they can earn of other people’s work; but it’s now a very big pyramid, then there’s door to door catalogue business like “Better Ware”, another pyramid scheme, or home parties like”Ann Summers” only, not with my figure but then there’s no accounting for peoples taste? Who remembers “Tupperware?” It seems the only one is the spell checker on this computer.

So what made me click on the Wealthy Affiliate banner which appeared on the business advert section on my face book page I don’t know? I was told that most of the adverts that appear there are probably scams so why?

It took me to the sign up page so I was even more suspicious of it. I think it was the one word that everyone loves to see:

FREE

It is a very powerful word, much like the longest sentence in the English language. “I do.”

So just over a month ago I joined the newbie ranks of Wealthy Affiliate.

It took me a little while to look at what was offered here and within the first week I signed up for premium.

Since then I have put into practice what is being taught here and am pleased to say I am slowly making progress.

I know I have a long way to go and lots of lessons and mistakes on the journey but I will keep at it.

Do I now think this is all a scam?

No, but I will add that for now I will still keep an open mind because how many other ideas have I tried in the past and got burnt with. I would think there’s a fair few out there with similar stories to tell and a few, I suspect not many, that are “virgins” to all this, to these people I would say.

Stay with it!

To conclude with: I have a very positive feeling about Wealthy Affiliate and unlike all the others programs I’ve tried the one thing they don’t promise is……….Riches.

This has been my first update on my story so far here at Wealthy Affiliate & I would like to thank you if you’ve taken time to read this.

Great article!

You've got the right attitude there, Bleakbasher! Yes, be wary of the programs that promise instant wealth... it's one of the characteristics of a scam. Best :)
