Are you doing your bit?
Dear WAers, today June 5 is World Environment Day.
We can do our bit by preserving the environment by making it a habit to reduce reuse and recycle.....in that order. The amount of garbage that ends up in landfill is alarming. These wastes are generated by industrial, commercial and institutional sectors as well as residences.
In some developed countries, there are waste audit regulations in place for businesses to abide by but overall, from what I have observed, many organizations are still not aware or just can't be bothered by such regulations. Businesses are not well informed. There is the need to raise awareness about these regulations and why they are important.
A lot of waste ends up in our oceans making animals sick. You and I can do something about it by doing our bit and spreading the word.

There's a popular saying that goes thus - if you can't reuse it, refuse it.
Please here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Keep a reusable bottle or mug handy.
- Keep a reusable shopping bag in your purse or car at all times.
- Reduce water wastage by having showers instead of bath.
- Buy in bulk.
- Make use of natural light when you can.
- Don't leave the tap running when brushing.
- Print double-sided (whenever you can)
- Go paperless.
- Discourage littering of the environment - I'm not sure why people do this. But I have seen cans, bottles and paper lying around in the park a few times.
- Encourage people around you to preserve the earth not just for us but for future generations.
- The earth is the only home we've got.
Thanks for taking the time to read.
Success is ours.
Bea

Thanks for the great message. Something everyone needs to hear!!!and do!!!
Tried and True

This is an excellent message for everyone! If all people would contribute a moment and pickup trash off the ground, what a beautiful earth it would be. Just like in biblical days. Thanks for sharing this. Louisa B
A very important message and I do what I can, along with so many others.
However I do feel that the message would be better spent on the big commercial companies. It is hard in the U.K to buy produce without plastic and whilst I recycle conscientiously I am not in control of what my local council does with it.
I have never personally dumped plastic in the ocean.
With Grace and Gratitude

Thanks for taking the time to read and leave a comment. In most cases, the plastics that end up in the ocean are carried by wind. That is why people need to try and dispose of their waste materials in the appropriate bins and not on the ground.
It is an important issue around the world. With all the regulations monitoring, we are not making our world clean and pleasant. I hope that people will start realizing the importance of keeping the environment healthy and clean
It is a big issue but we can start by making little changes in our community. Thanks for leaving a comment.
Hello Bea, this is a very serious situation. I try to do my bit and currently I am performing nine out of your list. Will try and do better.

We all have to do our part. Every little bit does make a difference.
