WP Maintenance Mode

This is the plugin you can install to put your website into maintenance mode while you are preparing for it for show time.

Needed if you Verify Your Website before it is Completed
It comes in handy if you prematurely verify your website and the Google bots come by to index your website. Once your pages are indexed they become permanently part of the results returned to the visitor.

Now here is the kicker... Let's say you created a page, published it, and it got indexed with Goggle. The next day you decided to change the name of the page and even changed the slug (name of the page that is indexed listed under the page title)

I come by and find your page on the internet. I click on the link and Bam! I get a 404 error code from the server which basically means that page cannot be found on the server.

My reaction! Oh heck I won't bother with this DOMAIN name and I move on.
