The Impact of September 11
We all mourn the loss of all of the victims of September 11 - Seventeen years ago. However, I just heard a report of the aftermath still occurring all these years later. As of today, over 1,700 first responders have died from cancer and asbestos related illnesses from the fine dust that covered New York City. More are dying every day. They estimate that the loss of life from this tragic event for first responders will be greater than the number of lives lost on that tragic day. This really hit me hard! These brave men and women responded not knowing what fate had in store for them. Also, the special insurance that was created for them is set to expire in 2 years. I think we all should write anyone and everyone to see that these heroes continue to get the care they need and are going to need in the future. It is just so hard to believe that this tragedy is still wreaking havoc all these years later. My heart goes out to all the familes of the victims of the towers and also to all the families that have since lost loved ones due to the poisons they inhaled on that day! And to the families whose loved ones are still struggling with devastating illnesses to this day. None of this seems fair! But we all know life is not fair! God Bless!
