I just wanted to share this! We live in a small town in the agricultural belt of the central valley outside of Santa Cruz, California. We absolutely love it here! We are just minutes away from 3 different beaches and about 20 minutes away from Santa Cruz. The weather is gorgeous 95% of the time! And the scene above is a regular occurrance! I shot this picture today as my husband was driving downtown. I just love to see people riding horses right downtown. In case you don't see it right away, there is a rider on a horse in the far right corner! We are surrounded by fields and fields and fields of crops practically year round. We have access to fresh food every single day of our lives, as much of it is grown right here in our back yard! A lot of the population in our town are fieldworkers. Everyone is very hard working and yet, they are very kind and helpful! This is our kind of town!

That is so cool! There used to be lots of farms here in CT, but it seems they're slowly disappearing, so seeing things like this are not as common as they used to be. Thanks for sharing!

I lived in the burbs for 37 years. We are so glad to be in a more relaxed and not so snooty environment. We got so tired of the attitude of the wealthy where we lived. It was always about them and nothing else. My husband or I were neither one raised that way. We are glad to be back to "our roots!" I know many, many farms have disappeared all over the U.S. It is really sad. We need farms to grow our food! I am just so happy to live where I live. And I love fresh food! Thanks for responding! Good luck and take care.

I'm still yet to visit the U.S. It is on my list.
We are also beachside in Melbourne Australia. In my opinion, nothing beats living near the beach :)

I could not agree with you more! We lived inland for 37 years. When my husband lost his last job at 68, he was really upset. We knew we could not stay there any longer. I asked him where he wanted to live, and he said, "THE BEACH!" So we packed up and moved to the beach! ( Well, really close to it!) We were kind of forced into retirement because no one would hire him. So we have struggled to stay here, but it is worth it to us. We love the weather, the small towns, the people, and the whales, dolphins and pelicans! Hopefully WA will allow us to stay here! Take Care.

P.S. If you ever get to the U.S, put Santa Cruz on your list!

Sounds idyllic Connie. I am reasonably lucky in living in a seaside town, but without the weather.

Derek

Seaside is the best! I love the fresh air and the breeze! And of course, I love watching the whales, dolphins and pelicans! I just cannot get enough of any of it! Take Care.

I lived in San Jose for a year many years ago. I visited Santa Cruz regularly. It is a beautiful place. If I didn't love NYC so much and have commitments and a job here - I would move there in a minute. What are the housing costs like?

Hi Wendy, From San Francisco to San Jose was our stomping grounds for 37 years! We finally got tired of the rat race and moved to the Santa Cruz area. It is a little on the funky side, which we love.

As for housing costs, they are pretty high. When we lived in the bay area, our house was well over a million dollars. Housing costs here are still pretty high, but we can get something similar to the bay area for around $600 hundred thousand. I know! That is still really expensive. And housing keeps going up an average of 12% per year. There is just not enough housing for everyone here. And now alot of the rich are coming from San Jose over the hill to live, causing housing costs to go up. But we love it here and are hoping WA helps us stay here. We are too old to move again! We want to buy our last and final house here. Once we get our websites going, we will be spending many more days at the beach!! Take Care.

Sounds beautiful! Thank you for sharing! Here's to success!

Cora

It really is beautiful here! We have agricultural fields all around us. We also have beaches everywhere, and many tiny small unique towns around us. And the people are so friendly! I love that!

P.S. My grandmother's name was Cora! Don't hear that name much these days. Here is to your success also! Take Care.

I live in the countryside too, but the Netherlands is a little bit smaller;)

Our little town is a little bit country and a little bit city! Mostly country though. We are surrounded by the agricultural fields everywhere! I never really paid much attention to where our food came from until we moved here. Now we see it from start to finish where we live. Take Care.

My town isn't even a city, it has no shops or no medical post of it's own, we have to travel to the nearby city for it.

I am in Chattanooga,TN but was born in California
Blessings

Why did you leave California? My best to you both! Take Care.

It sounds idylic!

In my book, it is! When I see the news and all of the problems everywhere else, I feel really blessed! Take Care.

Sounds lovely, I live in Australia and there are some ideal places to live that don't break the bank. I am in the Wheatbelt of Western Australia it gets pretty hot here and I love it.
Regards
Janet

Beautiful picture! I may just have to dig out some of mine and put them on here! Cost of living is pretty high here, but I am hoping Wealthy Affiliate fixes that problem for us! My best to you! Take Care.

Im on my way .... sounds right up my street :)

I live in Greece .. and have not been able to visit the US for many years now ... I would like to again.

Thanks for responding, Chris! I really do love it here! I can't imagine living anywhere else! Although my husband would love to live in Greece!
