Multiple Sites
I've been really unmotivated, lately, and slacking with adding new content to my more established sites. However, I'm adding new stuff to my new site almost daily, so I'm happy about that...however, I've hit a wall with finding new ideas to write about for my other 2 sites. It bothers me.

I feel like they are my 3 children and the infant is getting all the attention. Which makes me wonder if the 2 older sibling sites are feeling neglected??
"Mama still loves you, babies, that will never change. I just need you to be a little more self reliant for me while I'm nurturing baby brother".

How do you all handle having multiple sites? How much time do you dedicate to each one? And, does the inspiration ebb and flow for any or all of them?

At the present time I only have 1 site here at WA, but I have seriously neglected my other business while trying to learn all the things that I need to learn here at WA. Working in Wordpress has been the most frustrating thing that I have done in a loooooong time and has zapped my creative flow as well. I have had to sit down these past two days to structure a schedule for myself on how to handle all the trainings, learning and active applications to all that I am doing. Yes the older siblings are going to get some of my attention now.
aaaw, sorry you're having a hard time with WordPress...Is it just because it's different from what you've used in the past?
Yes it it, but now that I know how to create columns I am feeling a little relief. It just takes some learning and getting used to.
Yes, indeed. My newest site, the one I started here is currently getting the lion's share of my attention. And it STILL feels like it's not enough.
My personal site get's some attention when I have to add to my calendar page.
My video business site had been getting the least, and truth be told, should be getting a lot more TLC because I could use a few clients right now.
It's definitely a juggling act and by all means, the inspiration for all three does ebb and flow.
Hi, I just have one site, I am still at the beginning of building it and I would say I could come up with more content ideas. But I am going to buy some books on the theme of my niche. One problem I have is that the affiliate program of a product I want to promote just begins after being a customer for six months. So next month when I buy this product to be able to create a good review, I have to wait for six months until I can promote it. Not sure what I can do.
I've got 2 and I'm not posting as much as I should.
When I first started each, I went on a tear adding post after post quickly. Since then I've been steady but I too am trying to find new ideas to write about.
right, I was the same way in the beginning! The ideas just kept coming...I guess it's normal to slow down a tad after a site is built and semi-established, even if you only ONE site to maintain.
I feel like I'm looking at things from the same angle. If I could look at my niches from a different perspective maybe I'll get some new ideas.
I totally understand your concern, as I too have several hungry web children. I get these guilty feelings. Last night while in bed before sleep. I was feeling the guilt.Th guilt one feels when one works on one site and not the other.
But I think these feelings may help keep up centered, because now today I will work on the other one. Though these feelings are a pain in the neck.
I think we can only focus on one thing at a time. That's where our efforts have to go. We can give a little back of the mind attention to the others just in case we get some inspiration and give them some attention in the future. I think it might be difficult to spread yourself out too much though at one time.
I'm finding it difficult to concentrate on 2 at the moment Barb, so know just what you mean. Can't offer anything constructive, I'm afraid, just wanted you to know that you're not alone :)
thanks, that helps. I sorta figured this would happen. I had set high goals for myself, tho, in writing at least one per week for each...so, I'm beating myself up a bit for not meeting my goals. Just over the last couple weeks, I've not met those goals...
...it all started off so well, too! ha ha
Yes, I agree with you. I started off like gangbusters, then got the flu and it kind of threw me off the horse. But I knew I just had to get back on, which is what I have done. You should set goals as they help you achieve more. But when you don't meet them, just move them to the next week and keep going! Life happens to all of us, and we just have to learn how to prioritize and shuffle, and then get back on the horse! Good luck with whatever you decide to do. Two sites work for some people, like myself, and others can only handle one. You have to decide what you can handle. It is important to not let yourself get overwhelmed, though. So if two sites is going to stress you and overwhelm you, go with one. You can always add more later! Good Luck!

I'm still on the one site - every time I think I'm running out of ideas, then other ideas pop up like a light bulb moment. I guess I'm just lucky at the moment. I'm sure I'll run out eventually
