Why I Stopped Checking My Stats

When we are trying to build an online business, it is easy to get trapped in this loop. We want so badly to see that our hard work is paying off. But constantly staring at a flat line or an empty visitor log doesn't make the traffic grow any faster. In fact, it usually just drains our energy and makes us feel like giving up.

There’s an old saying that "a watched pot never boils." It is entirely true in affiliate marketing. When we spend all our emotional energy tracking the results of work we did yesterday, we run out of steam to do the work required for tomorrow.Real growth on the internet takes time. Search engines have to discover us, and real people have to find our content and decide they trust us. None of that happens in sixty minutes. When we constantly check our stats, we are forcing ourself to focus on what isn’t happening yet, instead of focusing on what we can control.

I would stop measuring my success by the numbers on the screen, and start measuring it by the effort I put into my day.

Did I write a helpful paragraph that answers a real question?Did I learn something new in the training modules?Did I leave an encouraging comment for someone else who is trying to grow?

When we close those analytics tabs and just focus on being helpful to our readers, a weight lifts off our shoulders. We stop writing out of desperation and start writing out of genuine passion.The ironic thing? Once we stop obsessing over the stats and put all that extra energy into creating great content, the numbers actually start to take care of themselves. Give our seeds some time in the dirt without digging them up every hour to check the roots. Keep planting, keep helping, and let the growth happen naturally.
