You are replacing the peace of unconsciousness
Sometimes people feel calm when they become very tired. Some others think that peace is what you feel after a few drinks or taking drugs (many use these substances because they seek for inner peace and quiet).
Being halfway or insensitive to drug consumption or a few glasses of wine makes it impossible for you to feel your anxiety, fear, anger, dissatisfaction or concern. But this relief only takes a short time.
That tapping is still there - because peace is not unconscious.
Peace is not when you are in sleep or when you are unconscious. That is the opposite. It is a state of increased living, when we become more conscious, and not less, and it requires awareness of the various thoughts that constantly pass through our minds.
