You are pulled
You are pulled out of the present moment
Not only does our mind extract from the calmness of the present moment, it also judges and interprets such a moment - mostly negative. For example, let's say your colleague gets the promotion. The voice in your head tells you that you should get that promotion or your boss loves him better than you, even though you are a better candidate for that.
In this case and in most cases, this is not an external circumstance (joblessness) that makes you unhappy, but you are talking to yourself about such circumstances (that is not fair). In other words, your thoughts make you unhappy.
When you change this habit, you will stop responding to what is happening in your life. You will become a friend with the present moment and you will find a way to a spiritual dimension. This is one of the most important spiritual practices in search of peace.
Old irritations - such as "caught in traffic jams" - you are no longer disturbed or provoked. You become aligned with the reality that is happening to you. You're in a car that does not move ... that's all. You have no problem, not this second.
You may even notice a mother singing a child in the car next to you or the beautiful blue sky.
You become a friend of your own life and with the experiences that are offered to you at that moment.

I love your article! I totally agree with you and like how you worded it thank you! I changed my daily thought habits by meditating at least once a day and work out daily along with reminding myself to pull myself back in the present moment every once in a while. We all have stress to deal with but it is how we choose to handle our stress that makes all the difference!
I think meditating is a great start because it teaches you mental discipline. Thank you for posting it and I wish you a successful 2019!
Cheers!
