New to Twitter!

I am going to be honest, I am kind of embarrassed to admit it, but I am super new to Twitter and it overwhelms me! Am I getting old?
I have thought about getting on Twitter before but decided just to focus on my Facebook business page....until now.....Kyle is telling me I need to have Twitter so I got Twitter!
I have tweeted a couple of my articles, but that's about as far as I have gotten! I know I will eventually get it, but I am just wondering if anyone has any good tips for thriving on twitter? I know I need to get really good with # so I am researching those via Trendsmap!
I suppose it is good for me to learn about these newer platforms so my kids can't outsmart me, so thanks WA for pushing me to step outside of my comfort zone!
