Did I Quit Smoking Or Not?
I quit smoking cigarettes about 8 months ago. But I still smoke. How can I do that, you ask? Well, I started smoking an ecigarette or as some people refer to them ecigs. I call it my puffer. My husband has been using them for about 3 years now. People ask, "isn't that still smoking? I say yes, because the electronic cigarette uses a mixture of nicotine, flavoring and propylene glycol or vegetable glycerin.
You lose all the harmful chemical additives that are added into tabacco products. A Chinese pharmacist invented the first version of the electronic cigarette. A small battery heats a coil and turns the liquid into a mist that you inhale.
There have been no long term studies done on them yet. But I feel that if you have to choose, I would choose to smoke something with less chemicals. I am not as chained to smoking as my husband was. I use my puffer more casually than he does. I can leave the house without it and be fine. He totes his around the house where ever he goes.
But he is smoking a liquid with only 6 mg of nicotine, while I puff 18 mg of nicotine. Maybe that's why he puffs more than I do.
The cost of our smoking electronic cigarettes is about one fourth of our previous costs for tobacco products. But as new models and new e-juice comes on the market, we some times spend to experiment. Not all e-cigs are created equal.
And you have to watch out for a couple companies out there that offer those monthly deals, they will steal you blind. Ordering offline and ordering your own juice is way cheaper but a little more work.
And of course, so many people have quit buying cigarettes, big business and the government is noticing a difference in sales and tax profits, that they are now trying to ban them here in the U.S.
They have already been banned in New York.
They say its because they have not been studied enough, that drug users could possibly find a way to use them, Like banning something is going to stop a drug dealer already breaking the law.
I think the loss of tax money( over half the price of cigarettes is tax money) Last I checked pre-taxed price of a pack of cigarette was $1.89. The rest is tax.) And the loss of sales for the big tobacco companies is starting to hurt.
Anyway I say I am still smoking, but done tell my insurance company okay.

I started smoking cigarettes at age of twelve, something I really regret. By age 20 I was on four packs of 20 a day, which is dreadful. I tried hard to stop but didn't really want to and each time I went back on it got worse. Eventually my Daughter "nagged" me so much that I wanted to quit and did it by just stopping, period. It was very difficult but I made it and have not smoked now for so long I can't remember when I quit, -I think it is 20 or 25 years now. Moral of this story is that I found gradual withdrawal simply didn't work, no matter how I dressed it up. I found I needed to quit and then I did. Good luck to all that try,
Regards
Hudson.
A smoker once told me that you are only a smoker if you refer to yourself as a smoker. He was reading lots of self help books about how to quit, and it seems that the people who actually quit smoking, are the ones who stop saying, "I'm a smoker who is trying to quit", and start referring to themselves as a non-smoker. That way, even if you do 'fall off the wagon', it's like experimenting all over again instead of restarting old habits.
Please be careful with these "e-cigs" as there are no long term studies showing what danger they may pose to your health. It is not safe to assume you are doing something that is less harmful.
the easiest way is to buy a kit. That can run about 15 dollars up to 75 depending on you. I like the EGO brand their batteries and parts last longer. I wouldn't waste your money on the little 15 dollar kits they do not taste very good and have a short life. My husband learned a lot at vaportalk. Its a forum and a store. We get a lot of our stuff there. And you could check youtube they do a lot of reviews for e-cigs. It may seem like a lot of money to spend, but after purchasing a kit, you only have to order more e-liquid or cartomizers( which is the e-liquid prefilled for you), You add up how much you spend a month on cigerettes and average to cost of the kit and cartomizers you will see the savings.

I guess I have half quit! I still smoke regular cigs as I will call them. I am also using ecigs. I am going to eventually quit the regular cigs. I hope these ecigs don't get banned.
A few years ago I had quit smoking all together for one year. I got weak and started smoking again. I will be able to quit both of these as soon as I make up my mind to do it.
Thanks for the post.

Has to be better than the real thing!
They're suppose to be. You can get a prescription version now from the doctor, but I spoke to a lady that tried that and she said they were nasty. With electronic cigarettes you can choose from many flavors.
