Etsy Ban is Just Another Reason Why You Need a Website

I know Etsy isn’t the main thing for most people on this platform, but Etsy’s recent ban on thousands of their seller shops is just more proof of what we have already been discussing, and why websites are so important. e.g. https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/kyle/blog/beer-with-kyle-fridays-are-websites-still-as-important-as-they-used-to-be

I’m not so much writing this for the people who already use and appreciate the Wealthy Affiliate platform; I am more so writing this for those who are poking around, seeing if it’s worth it to become a member and learn how to build a website. I got a news flash for you, Walter Cronkite … … … IT IS.

I referenced two specific YouTube videos in the blog post I wrote on my site, but I am not going to embed them here. Just do a search on YouTube for “Etsy ban,” and you’ll find plenty of videos about suspended shops, removed listings, etc.

The whole point is:

DO NOT HINGE YOUR BUSINESS ON SOMEONE ELSE’S PLATFORM.

It is THEIR business. YOU ARE THEIR PRODUCT. They can change the rules whenever they want, and you can’t do a single thing about it. If you break their updated rules, you cannot claim ignorance, you’re just out. They don’t warn you, and they don’t tell you what rule you specifically broke. You can try to appeal, but good luck with that; I have seen more videos about that being rejected than I have about it being successful.

Build your own website, own your own real estate, and let the other platforms be auxiliary attention-getters.

I am talking about ANY social media platform. YOU DON’T OWN IT. You can’t control it. It is theirs…you are just renting their space, and they can evict you at any moment. You don’t have tenant’s rights with them, and they do not care.

Read that again. THEY. DON’T. CARE. ABOUT. YOU.

Care about yourself, care about your business. Learn the skills, and build it for yourself.
