Hi

As you can tell by the topic. I am so stressed and depressed. Ever since I left college I haven't managed to find a single job that I would enjoy doing.

  • Have been rejected hundreds of times.
  • Seeked career advice from many advisors.
  • Registered with recruitment agencies
  • Can't continue my dream of studying.....

Past two years of stress has affacted my health badly.

I live with my parents and siblings, they are not being supportive at all.

They don't seem to notice what's happening with me.

I only have one friend that I can share my problems with. Even though she can't do anything, at least she is being supportive emotionally. And my parents have problem with her too.

Despite of this miserable situation, I am trying to do all I can to come out of this problem.

But its too hard to concentrate on my website in this situation.

What to do.......

Hi Mona,

First of all, kudos to you for reaching out and being honest about how you're feeling. That's SO important, and in just the last three hours, you've had half a dozen people reach back to encourage you! You ARE important, and you WILL make it.

All of the advice given here is really good. Seeking a doctor's advice is crucial, and if you need to go on medication, DO IT. There's no shame in that. It may just be temporary, until things are looking up a bit more. Whether it is or not, it's just medicine. It changes something chemical in your body - just like any other medicine does. Some medicines reduce inflammation, others relieve pain, others help the brain work properly. Do what you need to do.

As hard as it may seem, getting out and walking, or doing some kind of exercise is vital, too. Exercise releases chemicals that help your body fight depression, and if you do it outside, you get the Vitamin D boost from sunshine.

Getting with other people through volunteering, clubs, church, etc will also help you get "out of yourself." Your problems and feelings are real, but if they are all you think about, that's not healthy. Spending time with others will help you to remember that there's more to life than what's surrounding you right now.

Thank you for trusting us with your feelings, and please check back to let us know how you're doing!

Sorry to hear about your turbulent plight and it's great that you wish to reach out to WA for some support. Depression is known to affect concentration so there's no wonder why you can't focus on your website.

Have you tried speaking to a therapist? If not that's something you might want to look into, they are trained to deal with a myriad of problems including depression and they can help to regain your focus. In the meantime, look after your health, try to meditate, listen to some soft music, drift away and relax to the melody, this is a great way to ease some of that pent up frustration.

Another thing, try going for frequent walks, if you have any green space like open land or a park, again this helps to dissipate that sad feeling and exercise is another useful method.

Diet and nutrition will help to rejuvenate the body, try eating some fresh fruit and veggies avoid the junk food, it may feel good under the illusion, when it reality it creates a crash and burn feeling. Instead eat something that is iron enriched like kale, spinach, dates, legumes. Look after your body, this is so crucial in order to feel good about yourself, not only that, eating the correct food will keep you alert and aid concentration.

I tried all of the above in my time of sorrow and hardship and I can honestly say it helps. It takes time to make these types of adaptions but when you do you can slowly move away from sadness.

Hey Mona, I have been somewhat through the same thing with the college aspect. What I did to overcome it was a few things.
1. I went to the beach since the waves take things off your mind (if you live near one)
2. Went to local coffee shops since normally they play relaxing music and then you can focus on things you wanna get done with online.
3. For physical being, I went to the gym and worked out. Nothing feels better or refreshing then having a good work out in the morning then finishing off with a protein shake.

I'm also here if you want to talk.

Always remember no matter how crappy you may be feeling at this moment, there is always someone else out there that is much worse off. Be thankful for what you have, a roof over your head, a family (even if they aren't supportive), a college education, and most of all you are still breathing today. There many people that don't have these luxuries. Many of us have been to bottom before and yes it sucks but eventually you find a way to manage. I wish I could be more inspiring towards you but really most of all I want you to know that you're not alone, no matter what WA friends are always here for you.

If you can, check with a medical doctor - sometimes depression can be linked to physical imbalances which they should be able to see. I've also been to counseling for depression, and the thing I've always taken away from it is that a) no one can get you out of it but you; and b) it's not always that difficult.

Being isolated is obviously contributing to your feelings. Is there anything you can do to broaden your circle of friends? Church? Volunteering? Getting out of your own head by focusing on others is maybe a start. It's really hard when you're blue, but seeing a little bit of hope through a new friendship can be really powerful.

Just know I've been there and maybe know a little of what you're feeling. Breaking that cycle is key.

Make daily goal and get it done. Try to exercise and get in the sun if you lack vitamin D sun light will help. See a Doctor to see if they can help you. I will pray for you too

Mona. I am here. I am happy to be your friend so I can help you with your depression problems. Would you like to be my friend on Facebook? You can email me privately so I can find a way to help you.

Sounds like you're on some vicous cycle. Please visit this link to get some relief. http://www.vsatbay.com/recent-blogs/4-steps-to-get-out-of-a-vicious-cycle. You can do it. It might take some time, but soon you'll find yourself in a different place.

Hmmmm.,

Sorry to her you are feeling so down. Depression is a very serious problem. Sometimes we get so overwhelmed by day to day life that we can't see what we are striving for and how to get there. First I would see a doctor to see how bad your depression is and how to medically (if needed) address it. Then I would just start working on your future. One small step at a time. Living with family is difficult but sometimes they are right and sometimes not but set some goals and start working toward them one step at a time and you will get there!!
