So, this happened

I decided to try out Google alerts on copy editing and proofreading and I got an email which included a link to this ad on Craigslist:

"Is proofreading your document giving you sleepless nights. Now it will not. We provide professional and quality proofreading and editing services. We assure you high quality work. We deliver the assignments on time with prices within your pockets. You just have to mail us your important document and we will complete the proofreading with required editing and corrections. We offer 100% plagiarism free papers that assure top grades. We are available 24*7. Just call us and email us we will help you."The scary thing about this ad is that someone will probably pay for these services and get ripped off. It seems like the person who wrote the ad is not proficient in English, or grammar and punctuation. Let's take a closer look. First of all, the headline of that ad is a question. Where is the question mark? Reading on, I'd like to know what does "prices within your pockets" mean? Finally, the last sentence just clinches it for me: "Just call us and email us and we will help you." Huh? Why would I need to call them AND email them to get help? Thank goodness it's a short ad because I suspect the writer would have provided even more fodder for criticism, had s/he written more. I could spend more time picking apart the choice of words used, but I think you get the idea. I don't care how cheap these "prices within your pockets" may be. The fact is, if you use someone with inferior skills, you end up with an inferior product. Be willing to make the investment in quality and people will recognize quality in you. People are willing to pay for excellence.

Completely right, everyone should always be on their guard.
There are indeed so many scammers and people who offer their services who really don't know what they are doing on the net, it's like walking through a minefield.:)

Looks like I'll need to work on my blog formatting skills! It looked fine before I pressed publish. Oh well.

Well none of us are perfect :) you got the point across that's what counts.
