Day 1 of the rest of my life
So here it goes - I took the plunge today and signed up for the premium membership. If this site can help me to replace even half of my current salary (plus that premium membership fee of course :P), it will be worth it. I have a lot of first this weekend:
1) My husband and I signed the paperwork to close on our house Friday at 11:30
2) We picked out the two puppies that we are going to purchase yesterday
3) We took our son this morning and painted samples on OUR living room wall (going back to Lowe's to get more samples this afternoon after nap time)
4) I signed up for the premium membership because what I've seen and read has made me hopeful - hopeful that it is possible to stop working at the soul-sucking job I currently have
Next weekend we will be priming/painting and then spending time doing some basic yard maintenance. Between then and now I plan on finishing the beginner videos and setting up my first website (or two?). Now I just need to determine which direction I want to go with my niche. I was thinking one of the following:
1) Book and movie reviews - since I read so many books and watch so many movies anyway, I thought this might be a good place to start. Who doesn't want to tell the world what they think of something, right? Not to mention I was thinking with the Amazon affiliate thing I could do links (obviously) to what I was reviewing specficially, and then either to other books/movies that are similar or have an attachment to a person (either writer or actor/director) or to items mentioned/seen in the book or movie (if it is a modern book/movie - or costumes if it's not)
2) Young mom with young child planning to expand family - I have a three year old little boy who is just amazing and my husband and I have been trying to get pregnant again since Christmas. I was thinking this would be more of a "this is me, this is my family, this is what we are doing" and then as I have items that I use (for example if we purchase a new TV I could review that, or like my son's Mickey Mouse table) then I could link to that or other items that I'm thinking about getting (like cookbooks or cleaning products, etc)
Any thoughts?
Have a great day everyone :)

Sounds like you are sitting in the Catbird Seat. Great motivation. Both niches could work well for you.
I recommend working on one at a time though.

I agree with Greg, one at a time. You see this over and over again in the community, the learning curve is great, you have a family you are caring for, and you want to one site really, really well so you can repeat that success.
Hope that makes sense. Take time to do some research into keywords that marry up to the niche you are thinking about. It doesn't, nor should it be, a quick decision but rather something you love and could write on over and over again. Content in your site makes all the difference, you see that over and over again in this community too!
Glad to have you on board. Now ONward and UPward will take you FORward!
