Thank you. The only issue that I have with changing the permalink on my post is that all the relevant links that I have on my website which lead to that post will be lost. I was wondering if there is a way to avoid that?
So, you are referring to an older post.
Personally, I would ignore that post until it is old enough to update or replace.
OR
You could add yet ANOTHER plugin like Quick Page/Post Redirect Plugin and fix those lengthily permalinks using that.
Going forward, when first publishing a post you can make sure to not over do the permalink, as shown in the video.

This is a great training link. I've been shortening my permalink for ages now using the edit button.
Always best to do this before Ranking if possible.
