How to Brainstorm Your Future (2)

The other day you described your career and work, income and finances, personal and family relationships as you would like it to be 3 to 5 years from then. Then you described 5 things you REALLY wanted to CHANGE about your life in the next 3 years.

Today we are going to look at five tools you can use to change your life.

C. 5 TOOLS FOR CHANGE

Again pick up other sheets of paper or go to your computer for this exercise. Write the headings on each page and let yourself go!

1. VISUALIZATION

Describe as fully as you can a picture, or a mental image, of yourself doing something you want to do and doing it successfully. (E.g.: a successful day in a career you’d want to embrace).

Run this “movie” several times a day through your mind for as long as it would take you to achieve it. Picture yourself in the “movie” as if it was reality. In 30 days you will probably be surprised by related events that occur in your life.

2. AFFIRMATION

Create at least three (but not too many) limit-lifting affirmations as you can comfortably memorize in conformity with the new directions you’d like to take. Read or recite them to yourself several times a day, with as much conviction as if you’d already achieved them.

E.g.: If your limiting self-image is fear of talking in front of a crowd, your positive affirmation could be: I am a great speaker and I’m interested in imparting my ideas to others in a passionate manner. I have a lot to tell people about and people love to listen to me intently and avidly. So speaking to crowds becomes passionate for me.

3. EDUCATION

List 3 things that you can do to achieve the education that you want

4. ASSOCIATION

Do you know that you either fail or succeed depending on the people you spend your time with most? This is because their values, ideas, and directions influence yours.

See, if you hang around people who spend all their time playing billiards and drinking beer in the local pub, that’s what you will do too. But if you go with people who love to read and learn for example, that’s the tendency you would develop too.
