Musings on Reflections blog by Joes 946 and The Sound of Music
I am in a somewhat unsettled frame of mind today. And reading Joes 946’ Reflections blog today, made me start to think of my recent decision to join the Wealthy Affiliate and then become a prime member.
Is Affiliate marketing for fools?
Perhaps I should retrace my steps a little. Over the weekend, a neighbour asked if I was free to go shopping. When I said I was working on the computer, she asked what I was doing and when I mentioned the training and Wealthy Affiliate, she started laughing. Said affiliate marketing was for fools. I was quite taken aback and asked her why she said that. No, she had never been in any program, said it was hearsay.
So why did it unsettle me? Well, because, we tend to more easily believe the negative rather than the positive. That’s human nature I guess. But it did start me thinking.
Is blogging the answer?
Am I too old, too slow to learn how to use social media and other platforms to advantage? It seems to be the only way to success and to earning money. And I do have some questions. Please excuse me if they seem superfluous. For example, why the emphasis on continuous blogging? Yes, it’s a wonderful way of keeping in touch with the community, but how does it relate to earning an income? Especially since we do not do any selling on the blog.
And Joe’s blog got me ruminating - Joe has been in the WA for 18 months; his rank has apparently shot up - he is now ranked #7 and he is an Ambassador. He has posted 220 blogs on WA as well. Yes, undoubtedly, Joe has helped a lot of people on the WA community, but is that a reflection of his income having gone up as well?
Follow your dream…
I decided to take a break from all the thinking and the worrying and unwind by watching an old favourite - The Sound of Music. For those who have never heard of it, it’s based on a true story based in Austria on the eve of WW11, about a young woman who struggles against the odds and finds her way.
The music, and Julie Andrews voice, is uplifting each time I hear it. More importantly, I do feel more energized and more confident about my decision to go the WA route. And who knows, I might just learn the ropes - and start earning an income. As for the naysayers, well they will always be there, until we can give practical evidence of success. And I realised it is irrelevant what anyone says, the choice is our, so just smile and move on, As it says in the movie - “You Have to Live the Life You Were Meant to Live and Follow Every Rainbow Till You Find Your Dream.” I plan on following mine. I hope you do too.

Without a doubt, I plan to, Afsheen! I will never give up until I taste success and neither should anyone else. If you are serious, and--this is important--do the work, then you WILL succeed! Naysayers be damned!

One is never really too old to dream. I have met so many negative people in my life and they all have one common characteristic, they have never done anything unique, many have never tried to do anything that would help their life, they just seem to be happy muddling through life.
Keep listening to your heart and seeking the life you were meant to live.
Blessings

Thank you, I understand why the community is so important. Helps to put things in perspective.
Afsheen, if I don't do anything but get you thinking, I am successful! You have the right attitude and you WILL succeed, I am sure of that. Stay positive, ignore the critics. Remember this... when the big dog goes by, the little dogs bark!
