What exists and what does not exist

In this great community of people there is a fountain of knowledge. Philosophy deals with areas such as the meaning of existence, as well as other deep thought - provoking topics. Recently I have been notified on a number of occasions about the existence of a blog, but when I click on the link I am informed that the blog I am looking for does not exist.

Does anybody know the reason for this. Did it ever exist, or did it cease to exist for a reason after a certain amount of time, or did it just get lost somewhere. There must be somebody with the answer to this question.

Interesting title -- but yes there have been a lot of "disappearing" posts -- and I figure some of it is people deciding they did not want to have something published (perhaps they were venting and then thought better?) and deleted and some perhaps is the administration deleting.

I think so much of this vanishing posts syndrome recently is new folks who probably have crossed over a line because they don't know what might cross over the line. There is so much to read and grasp when you are new -- the terms just sort of fly by -- they don't seem too significant -- a drop in the proverbial bucket.

It is not just posts that can go away into the ether -- comments can as well..

I've though some of my comments have been deleted -- it is sort of a spooky feeling -- but I don't really have the time to track everything I say and then go back looking for it.

I know when you respond to a post the person you are responding on can delete your post -- which is interesting design here.

But it all works out in the end for our "existence" lol.

You have taught me something new Mike, i.e. that I can delete somebody elses response on my post. Interesting.

Yes it is sort of neat that you can edit responses to your own "blog"...

Everything happens for a reason...

Probably true.

They disappear because either the author is/has updated/deleted them or because Kyle or Carson has. Some rules are no affiliate links, spammy blogs, pushing a particular faith, unnecessarily posting links to your website to get traffic, if Kyle or Carson disagree with it and think it takes away in a particular way from their training here., and more. Kyle posted a blog on the rules, but I can't find it at the moment.

That is good to know Annie, I think this community is better because of these rules. The "offences" you mention are annoying and we are better off without them.

I did not know that the blogs can get deleted. But, understandable if there are good reasons for that

Terennzia

Thanks Terenzia, we must assume the reasons are good.

I have come across that to,cant say that I know the reason for it

Thanks Cathy.

I've come across this too. I know of one instance where the author pulled it and of one where the author then republished it and explained that he'd had some link that is not permitted and that's why it had got deleted.

Thanks Isabella, I had not thought of such scenarios.

I've seen this a lot too, especially recently. I typically assume that the author pulled it.

It seems to be more common recently Kary. Thanks.

The author can pull it, the administrators can pull it if it is not appropriate. These as just two of the reasons -

Thanks Trialynn, but what is appropriate. I suppose there are many things in that category.

I know things like self promotion, spam and language are all a consideration. Images is a very touchy subject, I had one of my post deleted when I first came to be a member.
