Walk Like an Egyptian

The Egyptians built the pyramids. In movies I have seen a bunch of slaves rolled these huge blocks up to where the construction site was but they never show them actually putting the blocks in the pyramids.

The weight of these blocks has been calculated and it is physically impossible for human beings to have put them into place without even cranes and other equipment to lift them. Did they have extraterrestrial help? A scientific mystery that will probably never be solved.

We do know one thing though. The Egyptians didn't invent the pyramid scheme, Hell, who knows. Maybe they did. How do we know it wasn't an Egyptian who first scammed other Egyptians out of money for the right to scam even more Egyptians out of their gold as long as they passed some of it back up to him?

But not to diverge even more from the point I consider MLM or Network Marketing or whatever you want to call it to be pyramid schemes. Oh, I know. Legally there is a difference. So called legit pyramid schemes have a "product." while illegal schemes such as Bernie Madoff's don't.

In my experience those products all seem to be either something to do with cleaning, beauty and weight loss or so called "green" health and wellness products that the old forgetful FDA just up and forgot to certify as actually healthy and effective.

There's one I hadn't heard of before starting to write this post. Mannatech. A good pyramid name. Looks like their product is some kind of pills made from fruit and vegetable juice. No doubt "scientifically enhanced" at the multimillion dollar Mannatech research laboratory. I love the way they say laboratory in the old horror films. La Bore Ah Tory.

MLMs have to obfuscate the fact that they are MLMs when trying to get people to join, Shortly before joining WA I was looking at the Craigslist job ads. One that I answered said it the ad "Not MLM or Network Marketing." It turned out to be Melaleuca. I had heard of them before and knew it was a pyramid. When I talked to the guy he said I could do everything online and I wouldn't have to try to talk friends or family into joining.

The guy I talked to said he was making $34,000 a month. Don't they all have one or two people who make that kind of money? So like an idiot I plunked down around $70 for some products I didn't want or need, One of them was a bottle of laundry detergent that was about $25. I had to place an order with so manu points in it. When I said I could get a bottle of detergent at Dollar Tree for a dollar he said I would have to get out of that dollar store mentality and "believe in the products." I would believe in a $25 bottle of laundry liquid if it did the washing, drying and folding of the clothes. The guy making $34,000 a month didn't find my remark to be funny.

I also got some vitamins and some chocolate bars that weren't as good as a Hershey bar or some Reeses Cups.

So I put some ads in the job sections of several cities on Craigslist. The used to be free but now Craigslist charges for job ads. From $10 for a very small city to $75 for the San Francisco area. I mostly stuck with $20 and $25 ads. Cities with a population between 200,000 to 500,000. Even researched the demographics of the metro areas to get the most exposure for my bucks.

There was a lead system set up. I had to pay $20 a month extra for that. People who were interested would leave their info and I would call them. Did you know that most people won't answer the phone even after they have left their number on a website? That's because of all the scammers who call everybody from fake numbers.

Discouraged I expressed my thoughts to the rich honcho and he said don't give up. He would place ads for me to help me out. He didn't. When I reminded him of it he said I didn't read something or another or do something I was supposed to do before he was going to place the ads. It turned out that the something or another I was supposed to do was make a list of my "warm market." Warm market being people that I actually know. He even said he would get on the phone with them to close the deal.

That's all I need. To earn the undying emnity of everybody I know. This was before everybody started wearing masks so I wouldn't have even been able to hide my face.

I really didn't want to shoot a man while robbing his castle. I just wanted to take the money and run. I didn't want to do it judge. Bobbi Sue made me.

Now I know some of y'all here on WA believe in MLMs and some have even made money. OK, what I want to know is how do they get the people they have signed up tp sign up other people and to buy the products they are supposed to buy?

EDIT: Something I said here and erased must have triggered the free speech police bot

Hi, I was in MLM before and could have made money if I had time for it. I was in the travel MLM and it works by looking for people who love to travel on social media.
Mostly Instagram and telling them they could make an extra income while travelling.

They earn a commission back for all their holidays and if you introduced them to the business, you earn on their travels too.

Those you sell to then sell to others and that's how it works.
To be successful, you must be very social.

Thanks for your opinion. I know that a very small percentage of the people who get into something like Amway make ven enough to cover their expenses
