How much is your website worth? This may be a question that you have asked yourself with thoughts to sell it, or it could be just to get an idea of how your work is paying off. Determining a website worth is tricky and involves lots of factors. It is not cut-and-dry, and what you think it is valued at could be very different from the next person. In this instance, value is somewhat a matter of opinion rather than precise figures.

If you paid for the initial fees of setting up the website, you will want to add that into the overall value. Unfortunately, this is something that is rarely considered. It is a necessary process that no one will be willing to pay for. If your website is successful, this will probably be a minimal fee comparatively anyway.

The main thing buyers will be looking at, or any service that is going to estimate the value of your website, is how much income your website provides. And there are a couple of reasons this is the case. If your website is doing well financially, then a buyer can assume you have put in the leg work to build traffic and that you have systems in place to continue to motivate people to return and make purchases on your website. This increases the value exponentially. Anyone looking to purchase a website will want something with all of those systems working and showing profit.

Another key component to making your website worth increase is the age of the domain. This is something that can only happen over time, and will add value to your website. The reason this is important is because search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo will accredit an older domain over a newer one that may have all of the same information. This allows your website to rank higher in search results. Since this can only happen over time, this value is almost priceless. Many buyers look to these kinds of websites to absorb them or redesign them, still using the accredited domain, to promote their own products. It is a quick buy that will enhance their business by a lot!

Something that also adds to a website worth is to offer services. If you are looking to sell your website, offer your services in addition to the purchase or for an additional cost. Having manpower is necessary to run large and high income website businesses. Offering your services for future work will also help you keep part of the pie. Make sure you add the correct amount that you are willing to work for. Do not under value your work.

Since website worth cannot be compiled into a list of numbers, many website owners overvalue their websites, especially when they are looking to sell. Typically buyers are willing to pay around double what the website yearly income is. However, if you keep looking, chances are you will be able to find a buyer who holds your website worth as high as you do.
