Your readers would be confused if you used a different name for your website than what appears in the address bar of their browser. Also, I think it's a good idea to use your own name for your website. I do 😎
You don't need to transfer the registration of your domain name to have it hosted here. How Domains & DNS Work WA Hosting - Setting Up Your Domain DNS
Hi I am a Premium member but just starting - do I initially create a free website or go straight to registering for a domain?
Find a niche you are passionate about. Research keywords for that particular niche to increase your rank in search engines. Choose an appropriate name and when you create the website you will then register a domain, but you can always change it later.

Hey Zij,
When starting out I like to suggest using a SiteRubix.com free domain. There is no right or wrong - but the reason I say this is because your ideas, and sometimes a the entire direction of the site, can change as you start building content. Get some initial content started and make a few posts, make sure you're happy with your direction and then decide on your brand...the domain name! SiteRubix.com websites rank, they get indexed, and when you use our "MOVE" function to place it on your own domain, we take care of all the proper redirects so that any rankings and the site's reputation will transfer correctly to the new domain.
I'm glad you asked :)

Welcome ZijShaan! My advice to you is start the step by step training and by following the lessons, I think about 10 lessons, you will be on the right track, like the the first thing they will tell you is to set your goals, then you move to lesson 2, etc, and as you go along, put whatever you are learning to practice, because then you will be told which to do first, you will see how easy your question will be answered!
Great decision on becoming a Premium member!!
