Does it show the number of clicks for the site, etc?

hope it all goes well

Zerkeses, It looks like you have received some great information here. Cindy

Thanks guys for all the info, I'll try Analytics first

I'd rather go with Google Analytics... when I will be ready.

No plugin but google analytics does a great job.

You can always see your visits at your google analytics.

Use StatPress, its easy to use and works great just type it into the plugins search bar in your dashboard when you go to add new plugin
It gives you all the stats on your site its all displayed within your dashboard I have been using it for about a year it works great

Barry

yes, but you don't want to use it....if you are talking about a stats counter they are very old hat, and in the early days it is only going to show low numbers, so you are just telling your visitors that they are one of a few.

People like to eat in full restaurants if you get my meaning...and if you have masses of hits and show it then ...so what anyways?

Is there a plugin that shows how many visits you get?

Does anyone know how to publish a website using Kompozer? I'm mainly confused with the ftp. etc., any experienced advice would be appreciated!

Thanks for the reply teacup, I will try this.

How do I get my whole wordpress blog onto WA, its already established.

go to your wordpress blog, then dashboard and scroll down to tools. From there click on export, all content, then right click on download export file. This gives you the opportunity to save as and you can choose where to put it. I suggest place it on desktop. After that go to websites and hosting here. Click on create a new website and choose siterubix domain. Set up website with theme and settings of your choice. Then in the dashboard of that site scroll down to tools again and this time click on import. All your files will be imported to the WA blog but you will have to set the themes and such yourself. hope that this helps. You can place a widget on a wordpress blog here. There is a lot that you cannot do on wordpress.com

Thanks teacup this really helped me. I followed your directions and managed to have both my websites on this server, I'm getting somewhere!

I see what your saying Jonicas, the reason I had this fiasco anyway is because I had the wordpress blog way before I knew WA existed, so the blog is already there and domain name is free, I'm broke so, unless I wouldn't have to pay for another domain name, I could do that. I think its time for some more brainstorming. I really want to sell the book on my own instead of amazon.

Ok I hope I'm not bugging/confusing you all,but I have a wordpress blog. psychicpage.wordpress.com and I have an ebook I want to put on the blog. First I thought I should just put a widget on the side of the blog, then I thought wordpress won't let me do that so I decided to use Kompozer to advertize the book and then put it on the wordpress blog. Now this sounds like a mess. I just want to advertise my book on the wordpress blog, but I wanted to monetize it too, and now I'm confusing everyone plus myself.

Kendall,

Please don't get me wrong but I think you are totally confused, why create a blog on wordpress.com when you have unlimited FREE siterubix sites available here?

You should concentrate all your energies towards creating a website that is totally yours with your very own unique content, eventually migrating it to your own domain.

Let's face, right now, you are not deriving any benefit from creating content on a wordpress.com site.

PS Work smart not hard, girl!

Well... Kendall,

At the end of the day if you already have WP going don't bother with Kompozer,

I only mentioned it for making some custom formattling within WP however you are probably better off editing the Style.css for special formatting (use with care though - save original before you "play")

To Our Success Online,
Jonicas

Ok I can see where you're going with that, why another form of software, believe me I'm getting somewhere.

yes, i feel it so complicated, the training for this on You tube you can find but i rather stick to word press

sorry do not know this one, I think wordpress is the best and so much easier

Well I have a wordpress blog, you think I could use that instead of composer?

It would be much easier for you

Are you using the hosting here? I think that the WA hosting is mainly for Wordpress sites. I never used the Kompozer but did use FrontPage on an old site now long gone. The ftp may look confusing but just take your time as it really is not that hard to use.

If you are wanting to transfer what is on your Kompozer to a Wordpress page you should be able to simply copy and paste. You will not need ftp to do that. The ftp is needed if you are going to publish from Kompozer to the root of your domain. That is not needed using Wordpress. The Wordpress is better to use because it is easier for you to go in and make edits to the site.

If you copy and paste make sure that you are using the same format in both. For instance if you are copying the html from Kompozer be sure to paste it into the "text" portion of the Wordpress. You also should be able to just copy and paste from the visual as long as they both are the same.

I cannot be sure because I have never tried to do that but it should work. It has been years since I have done anything in FrontPage. I had Kompozer on one of my old computers but never actually used it.

Hi Kendall,

I have used Kompozer before for some simple HTML pages and it definitely could be an alternative for you, just "grab" the source code and paste on the WP editor in text mode.

It should work :)

Jonicas

Ok i'm really a dummy here. What I'm trying to do is just get the content of whats on my page and publish it on the net using the WA hosting. Can I even do that? This is for my second webpage.

There is a publish button under edit and I'm confused as to what to fill those blanks out with.

Dear Kendall,

Some more details as what you are trying to accomplish would be great.

Are you working on a siterubix site?

Can you provide the domain of your site?

By seeing it I will be better prepared to help you out.

Most people are looking at my site from their phones, how can I create a mobile version of my site for free?

Thanks for all your responses, its irritating when you tell someone about your site and they don't see everything on their mobile device.

If you are not keen about changing your theme, then you can use a mobile plugin for the purpose. WPTouch is a popular plugin. It can "Create a slick mobile WordPress website with just a few clicks. Do not hesitate to get in touch if you need further help

Hi Kendall,

Consider yourself blessed, you have just received advice from a person in the know, Jay (Magistudios).

To Our Success Online,
Jonicas

Hi Kendall,

The best and easiest way is to have a Wordpress theme that is mobile friendly. This is otherwise known as a responsive design.

A responsive designed theme essentially knows when someone is viewing the website on a mobile device and automatically adjusts the theme so it looks good on the mobile device.

There are tons of responsive themes available for Wordpress that are free.

Hope this helps,
Jay

Thanks for this advice, this is what I would like to achieve with my site, I'm definitely trying this route!

Installed WiziApp in seconds and this did exactly what I wanted to do, now people can view my whole site on their phones, thanks.

Hey there.. wondering how you installed Wiziapp...? does it end up being a plug in for the wordpress site, orrr? (thanks for your help!)

H Zerkeses,

Use a mobile friendly template, I believe responsive templates are suitable for mobile.

You can do a search in Google for mobile friendly templates.

To Our Success Online,
Jonicas

Sometimes in the dashboard or when your in the themes part of your dashboard they will show you what your site will look when it is mobile. I am not sure if there is a way to create a version just for mobile but I do know they add that in the website.

WiziApp makes it easy. You don't sacrifice your original site and it automatically recognizes when your using it on a mobile device, allowing your audience to still see your complete site, plus its free!

I would like an active forum built into my website. By my website attracting music lovers, I thought it would be a great traffic idea. However, I may be getting ahead of myself bec

At the moment I've got the wordpress plugin forum until I can learn how to use phpBB because I'm not expecting much traffic right now. When the forum traffic gets bigger, I'm switching to phpbb, but I think I should be cool now.

How about making the forum on a different site and then linking it to your site. Just a thought.

That,s exactly a good way of doing it as the bbpress plugin can be a little resource hungry and slow down an existing wordpress website even more so when the forum gets very big along with adding a few more security problems to worry about.

I really wanted to do that with phpbb but I seem to mess up on the same step, when they ask for the host I go to the vista thing but my stuff doesnt compute right after I enter this information

I thought about that, I may try this, I just thought it would be cool to have it on my same site, but forums are pretty much sites to themselves. I think I'm going to try this route.

Whenever I dont know how to do something, I google it. Here's some help on forums: http://www.wikihow.com/Create-a-Forum

Free plugins like https://wordpress.org/plugins/bbpress/ will do the job but can be a bit of learning curve depending on how familiar you are with wordpress.

Ok thanks I'll look into that.

Ok so I managed to get a forum on my site with bbpress, but how do you open it so other people can respond to your post or make a new one. So far only I can post on the forum.

You can use short codes to display the forum exactly like you do with plugins like simple sitemap and the contact form.

Have a look at this http://codex.bbpress.org/shortcodes/

The front page http://codex.bbpress.org/ has a step by step guide to setting up bbpress.
