I had the same confusion, and it all came down to understanding the difference between owning your own domain name and having your site on a sub domain. Owning your own is very inexpensive and preferable because of Google and Bing rankings.

With Premium Membership you get 50 free Siterbix websites that include hosting as well. If you want to buy a url it is offered at a very reasonable price but not required.

If I may add to the comments, purchase of your own domain is not expensive, less than 15 dollars in my case.

You can build your website on a free siterubix.com subdomain. If you want to purchase a domain name that's an optional extra. You can get your domain name from WA or from another domain name registrar.

The Rubix.com is free and you can keep it as your main domain. That's an okay option. You're not forced to buy anything.
If you buy a domain, it will look more professional and you will be better ranked by Google.
