You Can Use Hashtags On Your YouTube Videos.

I came across an article which caught my attention and I thought that I would share it here for those who use YouTube videos for their business.

On YouTube, hashtags (#) in titles and descriptions become clickable links (like on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram). And if there are no hashtags in the title, YouTube will use the first three hashtags in the description to put them forward.

Hashtags are already everywhere, on almost every social network you use. And now they are entitled to a prominent place on YouTube. Indeed, in addition to allowing creators to use hashtags, Google's video platform turns them into clickable links.

As explained in a help page, hashtags in titles and video descriptions are turned into links. And if there are no hashtags on the title, the video platform takes the first three hashtags from the description, and places them between the title and the video.

Like on Twitter or Facebook, these hashtags allow users to discover content. By clicking on a hashtag in the title or in the description of a video, the user is directed to the corresponding search result.

YouTube has also posted a policy on the use of hashtags. The platform forbids, for example, deceptive hashtags ("Do not add hashtags that are not directly related to the video"), hateful words or hashtags of a sexual nature.

Currently, YouTube hashtags are available on Android and the web version, but not on iOS. It is not known if this is still a test or if the feature is already deployed on all YouTube accounts.

In any case, by testing on my computer, I managed to see hashtags on music videos on YouTube. In this case of use, they are practical because to have videos with similar musical genres, I just click on one of the hashtags put forward above the title.

It will become very useful.

Best wishes,

John

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the information John. Thinking about going on Youtube soon

Thanks for the very informative article! I am about to start my own youtube channel to promote some product reviews. I wasn't aware of hashtag usage on youtube. I appreciate the info.

It seems to be a new thing Daniel. It was already in use since a few years but hashtags were not "clickable" then. Now they work pretty much like on Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook, etc.

Yes, hashtags are but I was unaware of YouTube. I will start using them on YT. https://youtu.be/bPDRI9eqKXA

Great to know John, thank you very much

Hey John,
I am old school because I don't understand what hashtag mean. Can you please explain.

Tried and True

Elaine

Hashtag # check out this video https://youtu.be/bPDRI9eqKXA

To add to @BradB18's comment, I understand hashtag (#) as a keyword. When you search for something on Google, you enter a keyword or key phrase in the search box and it will take you to websites using that particular keyword. If you want to search for Tweets discussing a certain subject on Twitter for example you would enter #keyword in the search space of Twitter. If you have a Twitter account (which you should have), try entering #wealthyaffiliate in the search box at the top right of your Twitter page and see what it will come up with.

Cheers,

John

Oh so it's just keywords with a hashtag. That makes sense.

That's right Elaine.

Thanks for asking Elaine, I wasn't sure how one uses them.
Cheers Jae
