Why do we need to put privacy policy in our blog?

What happened if we just ignored it?

I started wondering about the privacy policy today too. I understand that affiliate programs require a privacy policy and that Google may not rank a site without one. Both extremely good reasons to have one!

But I also wonder about the wording we were given in the cut and paste template. The wording, "You can opt out of all communication with xxxxx.com simply by leaving this page," would not be accurate if you are using an email program or other automated systems of communicating with subscribers that they have opted into.

It is not clear to me if the grammar of this sentence "These third-party ad servers or ad networks use technology to the advertisements and links that appear on xxx.com send directly to your browsers" is correct, if the word 'send' was supposed to be 'sent', or if the sentence's understandability could be improved by rearranging the words. I should understand and be able to defend my site's policy.

I have been to the FreeNetLaw website suggested below, and while it is very useful, it doesn't specifically answer my question above.

Privacy policy help you to avoid some misunderstanding in the future and create in your website and trust.

As Richard posted go to freenetlaw.com and you will get with more detail about Privacy policy :)

You can download sample templates for most "legal" documents for websites at FreeNetLaw www.freenetlaw.com :) Rich.

Thank you.

Yes, this is absolutely important. Google, and affiliate programs (as Rick Mentioned) require a privacy policy to rank you. I strongly suggest a privacy policy for all websites.

thank you.

You're welcome!

Hi. Most affiliate programs require one and if you don't have you stand a good chance of not being approved. Always check their Terms of Service as well as each will have different rules. Kyle talks about it and gives a sample copy in the Boot Camp training, Phase 1, Lesson 3.

Thanks for your help.
Can I assumed that the main purpose of privacy policy is to get approval from an affiliate program?

Great suggestions Rick :)

I think pretty much, yes. Take a look at that training and see what else Kyle has to say about it, I haven't read it for a while. Hope it helps. Are you going to do an affiliate program?
