That Silver Lining

It has been quite a roller coaster of emotions over the last few days. So, at this moment, I am sad and happy at the same time.

I just lost someone dear to me and attended the services Monday morning. While it was nice to see relatives and friends, share memories, and reminisce about years past, I also know it is time to start the healing process and realize that we all are starting a new chapter without her. That's the sad part.

As Monday was coming to a close, an awesome expected announcement was confirmed. My wonderful son proposed to his beautiful girlfriend while they were on vacation at the happiest place on earth - Disney - and she said YES! That's the happy part.

As sad as the day started out, I was just as happy for our family by the end of the day. It was helpful to get the happy news because it was the silver lining....and I needed that. If you have read any of my other blogs, you know what a positive person I am, so it goes without saying, I am always looking for that silver lining in a negative situation. When we are experiencing those negative situations, it's very difficult to stay positive. It's hard to look at the situation and say "I'm going to make it through this." But, if you reach out to others and get just a sliver of something positive, sometimes it's all you need to make it through.

I can certainly equate Monday's events to life in general and especially to my journey here in WA. This has been a very different journey for me because I am working entirely outside my comfort zone. Sometimes as I am working on my website, I am so totally overwhelmed and frustrated. Then I receive good feedback from someone in this community and instantly, I feel better again....that silver lining. The thing that helps me feel like "I can do this." And it's all I need to keep making the next step, and the next, and the next.....

Remember, there will always be ups and downs. But keep looking for the silver lining and it will help you get through the situation. If you ever need some positivity in your life, feel free to contact me, the POSITIVITY QUEEN, and I will help you find that silver lining.

Well said,thanks
Trevor

Thank you, Trevor.

Dear Positivity Queen., You rock! Great blog! And so glad that your silver lining glasses are always on!
Congrats with your son! How amazing and wonderful. I wish them a journey filled with love and joy. So happy you are here!

Thank you so much for the kind words and I am thankful for you! You rock, too, lady! Keep up the great work.

Thank you!

Silver linings, what we all need. Thanks for sharing Yvette.

Yes, definitely and sometimes it's difficult. But keep searching. Glad to share and be an inspiration.

Yvette~I’m sorry for you loss. And congratulations on your son! Thank you for your inspiration.

Thank you so much and you're welcome.

I completely understand that type of roller coaster day. My Mom came home so sad after attending the funeral of her sister-in-law, so she decided to watch some TV. She turned on Wheel of Fortune and saw that she was that day's At Home Winner - she won a trip to London! I believe that God knows when we need a boost on especially sad days. I'm so glad that there was joy for you after a day of sorrow too.

Sorry for your family's loss as well. On the other hand, how great for your mom! Yes, I agree, He definitely knows.

Some sadness and some joy; This is supposed to be the mix that makes us all what we are.

Thank you for sharing a little more of your life with us.

I totally agree! You are welcome.

Hi Yvette, life has its own way of separating positive energy from negative energy.

Yes, it does!

I'm a firm believer that every "negative" is a positive in disguise, though sometimes it takes real work to see how...

Sorry for your loss, but how nice to be gaining a daughter-in-law!

Agreed! Sometimes it is difficult to see the positive. Yes, so excited to gain a daughter-in-law....she's truly amazing.

Happy moments like the successful proposal can send those skyrockets over the Disney Towers into the stratosphere Yvette!

Hahahaha...I know! I can't wait to hear about all the specifics when they get back from vacation.

Condolence for your loss, and congratulations to your son and his fiance...sad endings, happy beginings, the circle of life. You are on the right path, keep it up...

Joe

Thank you for that, Joe. Yes, I am staying the course!
