And So It Continues - Part 3

On October 11, 2017, I wrote two WA blogs. I won't rehash both entire blogs, but in essence, I was talking about the quote by Audrey Hepburn "Nothing is IMPOSSIBLE. The word itself says I'M POSSIBLE." In the second blog that day (Part 2), I shared the poem my daughter wrote about me when she was in high school:

To the lovely and loyal lady I call "Mom"
My best friend who could never be replaced
Your arms hug like a blanket
Your smile is as bright as the sun
You'd do anything to make me happy
My heart is filled with joy when I see you happy
You take care of not only me but our whole family
The lengths taken to please others is incredible
You are my pillar of strength through everything in life
I have learned from your hard work, sacrifice, and dedication
I am truly inspired to do my best at all times
Nothing is impossible to you

So, this blog is really a continuation of that day.....call it Part 3, if you will.

Before I tell you what happened yesterday, I need to give you a little background: When my daughter was much younger, she really struggled in school. Her problem was not that she wasn't smart and couldn't do the work - it was her lack of confidence in herself. So, instead of her even trying to tackle her homework on her own, she would not think about touching it until I got her home from afterschool care, when I could help her.

I understood her struggles and I was very patient. Her and I worked very well together to get through the homework and projects. Her grades were very good.

However, the nights on end of homework and projects went on for months until I was finally exhausted from it. I shared my frustration and was told by a very wise person to get her a tutor. In protest I said, "She doesn't need a tutor. Her grades are great!" I was gently told "The tutor is not for her, the tutor is for you." I found her a tutor that night! Taking that piece of advice changed our lives - forever. (Thank you to that wise person - who is now my husband.) We found an angel in that tutor and to this day, we are still in touch with her.

Over the months, what my daughter found was confidence in herself and I saw her getting more and more mature in how she handled her homework and her projects. After a period of time, her tutor retired (we were so sad), but I kept finding her good tutors to work with.

Her confidence kept rising. By the time she hit high school, it was smooth sailing. She completed her homework on her own and I was sitting back watching this beautiful flower blossom. It was amazing.

She's in college now and works very hard for her grades. She has continued to be on the Dean's and President's Lists. This semester is over and we were waiting for that last grade to be entered into the system.

I am happy to announce........

she made her first 4.0 semester !

We are so very happy and proud of her and she is over the moon. The sweetest part of this story is, we were in the car yesterday and she looked at me and said these words - "I'm possible, Mom."

I'm sharing this story because I want you to think about where you are. Are you struggling with your site because of your lack of confidence? Are you feeling like you are not going to be successful? Are you having a hard time writing content? Are you upset because you haven't had your first sale? You are where my daughter was when she was younger.

Here is the biggest question: Do you have help in your life - like my daughter had the tutors? YES! You have an entire community here to help you. Don't be afraid to ask for help! There are successful people here that are where you want to be. Take their advice. Before you know it, your site will be a work of art. You'll be looking over at someone saying "I'm possible".

Have an awesome week.

It often hard to ask for help...but it can make such a big difference. Glad it all worked out for your daughter.
Debbie

Thank you, Debbie, for your kind words. Yes, sometimes it is difficult to ask for help especially when we don't think we need it. In this case, I am so very happy we asked.

Thank You. Wonderful story. There are times when we all need some kind of support.

Great inspiring Post Yvette and kudos to your daughter for excelling.

I understand that Finland is rated as one of the best educational systems in the World (Canada is implementing some of their methodologies). At the core is the principle that education must ingrain the "learning how to learn" foundation. Sounds like your tutor has succeeded in doing that for your daughter.

Thank you for your kind words. Much appreciated.

I saw a documentary about Finland's educational system and it is OUTSTANDING! Yes, once my daughter grasped the concepts, she took off. It was quite amazing - watching the transformation in her. She's got it down to a science, now!

So happy for her. Our duties as parents are to help them to become independent to be able to leave the nest and of course to help them to find their passion.

Inspirational Yvette!

Thank you.
