Just started a new website, and I seem to have confusion on what is the real difference between a post on my site, and a page?

Hey! I checked out your site and would recommend you switch to a better theme for blogging. The theme you're using doesn't work well for content that's going to be updated regularly.

Just my two cents, have a great day and here's to future success!

Hey there Hendrix! I'm glad you said something I was thinking about changing the theme as well. I'm having a hard time with it as far as appearance goes. I will definitely changed the theme. Thanks so much for your two cents, lol!!!!!!! Best of luck to your future success as well!!! :)

I am using HAPPENSTANCE and it is pretty neat and easy to use .....:-)) if you want to have a look at the theme

Here are some differences and similarities:

Pages are mostly for evergreen content, more or less not time dependent so they are without date. They are only in one place in the site, in the main menu typically.

Posts can be at several places in the same time, including the main menu and the blog roll. This is why they are more convenient.

Both posts and pages have their own url therefore there is no difference in that sense.

There is no difference in ranking, so it does not matter how you publish your text. All SEO rules are the same for both.

Pages can also be in categories and can have tags, but for this you need a plugin.

Note, you can always transform a page into post and vice-versa, there are plugins for it. So do not worry if you are not sure what to have, posts or pages.

There is a limit of item in the main menu, around 80, so this limits the number of pages, while you can have as many posts as you want (as long as you do not add them into the main menu).

I hope this makes sense and the terminology is more clear now.

Thanks so much for all this, its been very helpful. I'm starting my own website about starting an online business, and I got confused wondering about the pages and the posts, but this definitely helped a lot.
I appreciate all your help with this!!! Have a great day!!!!! :)

Hi jvranjes,
I'm quite new and just completed my Course 2, Lesson 4 task of posting a post using Key words from Jaaxy. I was a little confused. In my dashboard I posted under Posts. It occurred to me that I wasn't writing on a previously created page. Also, it appeared I only had the options of giving my post a title and an 'about' entry. Is there a place on this site where I can simply learn more about Wordpress, or is there a training video you can recommend that will help me better organize my posts. I hope you can help, and cheers anyway if you can't.

Hi Robert. I do not understand what exactly bothers you. Go to dashboard, posts, Add new. This will give you new working space to create a new post. Cannot give more details unless you say more. You can search above in the WA search tab, there are tutorials for everything, literally.

You can start with this

Hi, I think you can learn in many different places. I watch Youtube often to find help. It's all new information to many of us. Sometimes I watch a video a second time and realize I wasn't focused. Other times, it might be good to just search the web for a tutorial. I hope that helps!

Pages are mainly used for static purposes such as your, privacy policy, about me and disclaimers... For each page you create you will need to add a link.

Posts - Primarily used for regular content such as blogs and news articles etc... They will appear on your posts page without having to create links. By standard posts are sorted out in date order and you can categorise and tag posts whereas with pages you can't.

The below link is one of many official explanations of what they are.

hi John,
so If I am talking about wealthy affiliate that should be on my posts right?

check out my site I just started yesterday and see if you see what I mean:

http://www.haveyourownbusiness.com

Would appreciate it!

thank you!!!!

Whilst this can also be achieved with posts. Your review should be on a page. Theses are the pages that actually make you money. They need to be accessible on your site menu.

As a beginner stick to creating reviews using pages and other articles using posts.

You will get to know how post and pages work that way.

When you get a bit more experience. You can create reviews with either posts of pages.

A post lets you interact with you audience while a page is for display purposes only.

Hi, i continue to get this error, any idea what i did wrong?

Beachybuzz.com is not your user name, it should be @beachybuzz.com and then the password. These are found in the SiteRubix email section, which will tell you what your SMTP settings are (including password)

I figured it out you guys! After 2 days, I finally figured it out!!!

THANK YOU!!!
