The Magic of it All

There are many forms of magic and the entertainers that provide them for everyone to enjoy. One particular Magician that comes to mind is Harry Houdini. Although he has been gone for many years now, his accomplishments carry on. For instance, one of the many stories we were told when we were young was when Houdini came to our hometown.

Many years ago in the 1936 or 1937 when he came to perform at the Ruenes Theater, which is no longer there. Right next door to the theater, our Grandparents ran a little grocery store and since they were close by, they were invited to attend the show and they did.

Our Grandmother and Grandfather went to the event, very small venue, and at on part of Harry Houdini's act, he commented that there was a non-believer in the audience and that they would begin believing later that night.

Well the show went on and from what we were told, the show was a success. We were then told that when my Grandmother, and Grandfather went back home, they found the cups and saucers literally standing on their ends and dancing away. That was when my Grandmother told my Grandfather that she was the one that did not believe the Magic that Houdini was practicing.

Moments such as these will never be forgotten and they will continue to do so. So how about it, have you ever gone to a magic show and found your self taken away by the magic? I believe there is magic all around us at all times.

What a story! Thank you!

More mystery stories please, very thought provoking!

Wayne

Your welcome Wayne, let me tap into some of my sources. Time for more coffee.

Fascinating story...magic would be a good niche.
Debbie

Sure why not! That does and will trigger some traffic you think.

Wow! really?
How astonishing. That is interesting information, and I agree magic
is all around us, some explainable and most not.
Cheers Jae ☺

Thanks Jae. Love hearing these occurrences from our Mother at 84 still running strong.

Thanks for sharing, Xavier.

Sure anytime.

Thank you. This was a very enjoyable read. I enjoy seeing magic shows as the contemplation of magic is fascinating to me. Magic has always been a favorite of mine, no matter where I find it.

Take care.

Sure, your absolutely welcome. Always a great topic that captures anyone's attention.

I enjoyed reading your post Xav. :)

Saturday, at WA seems a great day for stories, and this is a fabulous one.
Thank you, I have enjoyed this as I have recently become acquainted with the work of Neil Degrasse Tyson, director of the Hayden Institute and professor of research/analytics, I believe.
In his lecture "Brain Droppings" he promotes various "sceptic"
views on a variety of topics. And at first run, I found more entertainment with him as a speaker, than being convinced of
his spin on things... Anyway..sometimes the unexplained has simply occurred...and remains a mystery until we ask the "right"
question.

You are very welcome. I am not familiar with the director you mentioned, but I will look into it and I am glad that this was a good read for you.

I love these shows. They bring back so many memories for me!!

Tried and true

Elaine

They sure do. I didn't know that magicians of this caliber had been around as long as they have. This makes me wonder how they got started. Thanks Elaine.

Cheers

I love magic but haven't been to many magic shows.

There are not too many shows around anymore, although I believe that David Blaine and Copperfield still perform. Hollywood has movies such as The Prestige and Now you see me both 1 and 2, are great movies. Good times for sure.

Hi Xav that was quite the story. I have never gone to a magic show.

I have heard of Houdini and other magicians, they have ways with illusions, but when something like this happens I don't get how they do it. Just like David Copperfield with his disappearing people and aircraft etc.

It's all a mystery to me, and I agree that magic is always around us.

Have a great weekend!

Thank you Patsy, and yes it seems that we are surrounded by forces that are unknown to many. Watching Copperfield and David Blaine are great magicians and there are a couple of movies about it too. Thanks again. Have great weekend as well.
