I need to scale back for a little while and go with our free with one website.

Here is how to take a break and come back later

That's to come back as premium. She wanted to go back to free membership.

If that's the case, you can't get the benefit of all the training and then go back to the free membership. But you are free to leave and transfer the website to another host if it's an owned domain name. You can not transfer a siterubix subdomain.

Loes, I'm not going anyplace, Wyattsmom is/was.

Sorry, it was meant for Vivian

Didn't want you wishing bad mojo on me ;-)

I would never..!

Thank you ;-)

Thank you Bryan, How do I cancel?

If you decide to leave here's what to do: Click on your picture at top left, then account settings at bottom right, scroll down to subscription settings, membership, stop billing & cancel membership. Sorry to see you go.....

Go to your account settings. In subscription settings, select Membership. Click Stop Billing&Cancel; Membership button

Once you go premium you can't go back to being a free member.

Yes, that's always an option, probably not one WA would appreciate. You won't be able to keep the site you built though, and since you already had access to all of the training is that fair to Kyle and Carson? I don't do things like that and certainly won't recommend it to others.....

Wasn't a recommendation but pointing out the obvious. A person would lose any sites built here; there is no benefit to doing it other than viewing the free videos. You are right, and I shouldn't have stated it.

Now that my site is up and running, can anyone shed some light on the ongoing maintenance that I should stay in the habit of?

I'll differ from a few comments and say that it's a good idea to perform your own backups. When I asked SiteSupport for their feedback, they said that I should do my own backups as well. There is a plugin that you can use to backup your site called WP Clone by WP Academy. I do a backup each time I publish a post. I download the backup data, and save a copy of the backup URL. Then I deactivate the plugin (not delete or uninstall) until I'm ready to use it again. This helps to keep my site speed up. Also, the plugin has a way to continually generating site data which can become bulky over time, deactivating it helps with that.

Other than that, another very important "maintenance" thing for you to do is interlinking your posts. Link your relevant posts together, either via subtle linking (like linking a word your post to another post that covers the subject of that word), or directly linking to another post (actually telling your audience to go look at this other post you made). That's something you want to keep doing over time, it's very good SEO and helps to boost the ranking of your site overall.

As you move forward you will find other maintenance stuff that you will end up doing on your own, but I think those two things are the essential things to pay attention to. Interlink, and backup.

Hi Vivian,

Everyone is correct above.
WA backs up your site daily.
When you go into the back office of your site you will see periodically there are updates which you should do each time - to update plugins and themes.
Regarding your content and the posts you put up. Just keep adding posts on a regular basis. When I first started I got into a habit of 3 weekly at the same time each week. Mon/Wed and Fri. I have not been as consistent lately but am endeavoring to do 2 posts weekly as I have 90 odd posts now on my site, however I do want to keep adding to them. The more posts you have, the more chance of extra traffic.

Hope this helps,
Sharon

Your plugins will need regular updates.

Actually, WA makes everyday backup of your site. So, you need only care about the content and its optimization. That’s it

thank you -- so change content if I feel the need to optimize my site? How often and how do I know when it needs it?

You may decide to optimize your sites when you notice it is getting dull or as you publish more and more contents.

where I can add a mini capture page section requesting an email address. I would like to offer a free gift, and request an email to start creating a list to place in my AWeber

Bulk mail providers provide code that you can embed anywhere on your website or in your email. Most if not all provide you templates that spiffs up your optin capture form. You set this up in AWeber and insert the result where you want it.

Thank you!

Absolutely! You have Aweber - so you must be familiar with how to make a form? You would put that form on a "New Page" and put your offer there. You can also put a form in a sidebar so it would show on every blog post.

You can upload a pdf -- the same way you would an image in WordPress - using the "Media" tab in the left column of the WP dashboard. Aweber also lets you host pdfs there I think - but I usually upload pdfs on my own domain.

Thank you Heather. I really appreciate your quick response. I am also pretty new to AWeber. Would I create a link for my capture page and insert the link to Wordpress? or copy it over from Aweber to Wordpress in some other way?

Sorry it took me a while to get back to you! I suggest you go through the trainings on setting up an email marketing campaign. Start at Email Marketing 2018: 1st Steps to List Building - recorded March 4, 2018 and go through all the steps/videos in order. Do the homework he gives in each video. It's way more than I can go over in a comment. Let me know how you do with the email marketing videos. I am watching them now because I need to improve my own email marketing. Email lists really are the bread and butter of a business.

I plan to sign on with Amazon and some direct affiliate ops.

Thank you - hope all is well!

Yes, you can use subdomains You can have up to 25 websites using your own domain names.

Yea! this will be a time and money saver. I thought I was going to have to purchase a .com for each niche I create for affiliate marketing. This is really good news. Thank you so much!
