Was checking out the 4 network affiliates listed. Kyle says we need to join one. Commission Junction said the fee was $1,145.00. Did I read that correctly? Is this really neces

I would have to 100% agree with the couplenof post I've already read. It is your business to run, but I would be highly suspected of any affiliate program that charges to become an affiliate.

this is your business- you don't need to join anything if it does not fit with your business.
commission junction should not cost anything to join to advertise their products.
are you sure you are in the right place?
what is the fee for? is it a one off fee or yearly?
is it for advertisers or publishers?
any affiliate program you need to pay for is to me suspect. indicating that you may not be able to make too much money from their products and would pass on them and move onto the next one.

Do you mean as an affiliate or as a merchant?

The charges are pretty low for merchants but if you have to pay to become an affiliate I would give any program a very wide berth that charges you for promoting their company.
Affiliate get paid not the company, that's the whole point of affiliate marketing.

Thanks Robert. Am totally new to this. Feel like I'm trying to build a tool shed for my back yard without even seeing what the finnished product even looks like! Very frustrating! 1. Would be nice to see someone else's completed affiliate website that sells in some other niche just to get a feel of what to shoot for on mine.
2. Zzounds looked great when I googled music equipment + affiliate. But, truth be told, never heard of them, bought their equipment nor broused their stores nor even know where they are located? How do you weed out out good vs. bad advertisers?

OKey Dokey, I got the impression from your question that you were actually an affiliate with zzounds.

No matter.
The best way is to type into your browser whatever your niche/product/service is followed by a forward slash and the word affiliate program and if there are any affiliate programs associated with it then you will get a list.

eezy peezy lemon sqeezy.

As for weeding out good from bad that is mainly down to you doing your due diligence and seek out reviews on said affiliate program.

Most if not all affiliate programs will have images you can insert into your web pages and also banners, logos image Ads and text ads.

Just like wealthy affiliate does.

Keep in touch with a PM and I will help you out if I can.

I see that you want to follow little old me as well so I will get to that as soon as I can tonight before I sign off.

Hope you're day is going as well as you want it to go.
Robert

Thanks, Robert. Very helpful.

No probs

Checked out all 2897 themes for premium members. None convey what my niche website needs. Can a custom one be designed and used?

You will need to test a theme before decide if it is suitable for your site. I don't think by reading the theme description will give you sufficient information on the theme capability.

You can also get someone design a theme for you. Go to Fiverr.

:)
Joe

You can customize a theme...
Best is to search your niche for best theme. Often a paid version

In other words, you are saying, any picture can be uploaded and used as a theme for a website?

Wordpress.org says this about your question: "You can add images to your WordPress site through the use of template tags, Plugins, and in the stylesheet of your Theme as background images. It is really up to your imagination and web design skills on how you include images in WordPress."

Go here: https://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Images

Anything is possible in Wordpress with images. WP made it really flexible.

Hope it helps!

Thanks TCUK! What do I type in address bar and/or google to access this Divi?

If you know code you can customize it by going to the dash-board and under appearance go down to editor, but if you don't know code then it is best to find a them and go to appearance and click customize most of the themes have a setting Ca;;ed Back Ground Image of something to that effect. It let's you select your image and then load it or publish it to the page. Hope this help's

you can upload any theme. if you design one or get it designed it should be fine as long as it is compatible with WordPress current then future versions.

Or you could use something like Divi, design your own layout, pages etc... A few of us use Divi (From ElegantThemes) installed on sites here and so far is works fine

Some people do not like to use theme designers (e.g. Divi) for worries that the specific tech (short codes of the tool) may make your site slower or less easy for google... that is something for you to research.
