Progress in starting with Instagram
I (we .. as in my wife and I) made a decision to start using Instagram for our business in the second half of last year. My wife already had an Instagram that had been hanging around a few years so we decided to start with it rather than from zero.
I have not met the targets I set when we started with Instagram and I am sharing this here so everyone can see the progress and what it might take.
As a start, everyone should do CathH1's training on Instagram. I need to redo it to implement it correctly. Note to self: do it in next 7 days.
From 17 November to 17 January we have increased followers by 100 or 20%. The dates are pure coincidence.
Our post numbers have been way behind target. I am counting a six day week so the total days in the period is 48. Ok, I know that is not exact because of the variation in months so lets say 50 days and only 14 posts which is 1 post per 3.6 days. During 3 weeks of this period I was without a computer so I could not post as I had not set up the template on my iPad as a backup. Note to self: always have backup
The biggest challenge I have found is creating content (same with my blogging .. hmm).
Target for the next 30 days is to achieve 4 posts a week, 1 every 1.5 days. The gurus say it should be more, but hey, we are just starting this.
The average likes we get per post is 32 (6.5%) and we average 1 comment per post. The posts are all done at 3 pm in the afternoon. We are currently only using 2 # . Note to self: Increase the number of #, urgent.
Overall Instagram has not yet lead to any direct business that we are aware of.
The followers are all organic and we have done nothing to attract them so I don't know how they are finding us. I am sure some of the Members here maybe able to comment on that. We tend to get up to 5 people adding themselves every time we do a post. After redoing Cath's training, I will implement strategies to dramatically increase follower numbers and work out how to leverage that into potential sales.
The Instagram posts feed to our Facebook Like Page (which is very successful and you can read about it on my other blogs). And we also repost on our LINE Social Media Wall. So the content kills three birds with one stone!
Final Word: It is a start, there is a long way to go, enjoy the journey!

I am sure that this positive trend will continue for you...I have an Instagram account but seldom use it to this point...
It is supposed to be an excellent platform for adverts from what I have read...I like the three in one feature, so MUST look in this further...
Question: (Does it post to a fan page or to a group page too simultaneously - that would be great!?

Thanks Dave .. as far as I understand you can only post direct from Instagram to you FB Profile or your FB Page, you cannot post to a FB Group.

Thanks, William....We are looking at different plugins now to sync the stores with FB online stores and the one we are trying also gives you the ability to add an Instagram tab as well as YouTube and Pinterest tab... This seems to be the ideal solution as it also will allow us to use some of the marketing tools they offer such as scratch contests, etc. Loving this! Cheers! Dave : )

It on my top priority, above facebook, where I started few days back.
