Healthy Statistics for Affiliate Marketing Industry
Digging around in research work for WA uncovers some very interesting stuff. Sometimes the gems are on the sidetracks. Forrester Consulting (Cambridge MA USA) did a commissioned survey of US based online buyers. You can read the full report (17 pages)

Here's some interesting nuggets from the survey to get your affiliate ambitions fired up.
- US affiliate marketing is forecast to grow to $4.5 billion by 2016 - Advertiser spending on Network fees and direct commissions.
- People shopping through affiliates will spend more than buyers who purchase online direct from the retailer.
- Shoppers will consider and purchase a new brand when going through affiliate sites.
- Direct commission payment to affiliates will represent about 25% of revenue earned.
- Consumers are deal driven...comparison apps and charts make their choices easier.
- Consumers perceive that better deals are available off of the retailers site than on it.
- Affiliate Marketers are more successful in helping shoppers consider and purchase new brands.
- 42% of buyers made four or more purchases from a non retailer website.
- Online buyers will visit 3 affiliate sites for research, inspiration or best price before making a purchase decision.
My take away from all this? Talk to your customer, hold their hand and show them around your beautiful products. Explain how they will benefit , clearly and honestly. Compare your product to the competitors for them. Show them value. Engage their trust. Imprint a positive memory.
Make a human connection.

I admit that after getting a few phishing scam emails or running into an over hyped IM site or capture page, I wonder if I really want to be associated with the internet.
Your post above is a much more positive way to look at the industry we are in and the bright future it actually has. Also, I'm starting to understand that updates from the Google Zoo are really positive in this regard as well.
