RE: the mobile friendly issue. If your website is to be seen by a consumer then yes you may need a mobile friendly version. However, if it is aimed at people building their own websites or developing their online business then I don't think it is such an issue. After all no one is going to use a mobile device to actually do all the technical stuff in their business but rather a laptop or desktop.

Looks like to me Google is culling older stuff and those who are less than honest so it may in fact be better for those who are on top of it and play by the rules.
