Patience Test To The Max
They say patience is a virtue. That may be true. But sometimes it sure gets pushed to the limit.
We all know that we must be patient when we're working on our online endeavors. Things do not happen automatically or on command, as much as we might wish them to. Give it time and things will move in the right direction.
But what do you do when Muphy's law decides to teach you a major lesson in patience not once, but multiple times in a few days?
It started on the weekend with the first event at the gas station. The pump handle would not release while filling a jerrycan. Before the preset amount would shut it off, the gas was spraying like a garden hose in a cartoon all over the car, shoes and surroundings. Luckily someone ran into the station and an attendant shut off the pump.
Later that night, not one but two coyotes decided to pay a visit to my yard. Since I have a dog, it's always a concern. I'd writtenο»Ώ about one skulking around my door a while back.
The last visitor was unnerving, as it was midday. But this time, just as I saw one large canine prowling around, the second one suddenly appeared out of the darkness. I later heard an entire pack yipping, barking and yodeling.
I was quick enough to snap a few pictures this time. But my camera is not great in low-light, so you'll have to forgive the quality. You get the idea though.
The next morning, my water pumps were acting up which led to intermittent showering and laundering. I figured the water hose filters were clogged due to the country water I have. So off they came, were cleaned and put back. However, one filter was put back the wrong way which led to a flood during a rinse cycle.
As if that wasn't enough, it was then that Murphy had the last laugh. Big trouble was knocking on my door. The water was dribbling to a slow stop. I hoped that it was just a clog somewhere. But after troubleshooting with my water guy, it seemed to be that the well pump was the issue. You sure don't appreciate the basics until they disappear. Insert multiple water cooler jugs to the rescue!
Onto an emergency call to a well repair company. You can see part of the process below this morning.
Problems never make an appointment date. And winter conditions just add to the mix. We just have to keep rolling.
Long story short, the pump was replaced. But the real culprit turned out to be a cheap fitting that had initially been installed on the pump which over time had deteriorated. Now, had the technicians put in a "fancy" steel $15 fitting instead of the standard $3 plastic one when the well was drilled, this may not have happened (until much later).
Moral of the story: put in a little more effort, take a little more time and don't use inferior products to save a literal dime. In business and life, if we just take that extra moment to make a quality product, we will have better outcomes and your customers will be much happier.
Sometimes life just hands you lemons and you have to make lemonade. Now, I would ask that wherever Murphy resides, please move along immediately. I've had enough patience-testing for one weekend.

Oh Susan,
I must admit that you were not bored that day.
I am sorry for all these events and their course of events. I hope that everything is resolved and that you can relax a little.
I don't think anything terrible about coyotes, there are them in my village, so I'm used to it. They just howl really ugly.
Many greetings,
Slavka π
Hi Slavka! Thanks for your kind words. It was far from boring thatβs for sure. I am starting to relax now. Glad itβs over.
I guess you are used to coyotes, too. This was my first time seeing two up close but it was fascinating. All of natureβs creatures are incredible. Yes they certainly have a howl!
Thank you for commenting. Cheers! ππ
Hi Susan,
Take care and rest, you deserve relaxation from all Marfi's attacks π
Cheers,
Slavka π
Susan, you must have the patience of Job! Your story reminded of what our Nana told us when we did shoddy work at home as kids. A Stitch In Time Saves Nine!
I hope you were able to give Mr. Murphy the boot and he decided to visit someone else. Hope itβs C not me lol!
Cheers.
Edwin
Hi Edwin...I can safely say that I think I've gotten more grey hair over the weekend. Your Nana was right. But when Murphy decides to get involved, all is lost. He has now been evicted and is not welcome. I hope he doesn't show up at your door either lol!
Cheers,
Susan
Oh wow, Susan!
They say when it rain it pours!
And that certainly happened x 10 in your direction
I hope you didn't make the mistake of shaking your head and saying , 'what next?" after each disaster π€
I'm so sorry that you had lemonade all day. Did you make a lemon pie at the end ? lol
I'm breathing a sigh of relief that all is now well and a positive lesson has been learned
It certain was a monsoon. I do love your attitude, Simone! Lemon pie - how sweet! I could have used your positivity over the weekend. Somehow we got through it and made the best of it. Although my son decided to go to a hotel with water instead of playing pioneer like we did! Haha...having a large exhale at this point. π
Yes, a new day. I do in a way. Too much tension is never good. How are you feeling these days...I hope things are improving?
I've received my MRI scan results and there is nothing to be concerned about.
But I still have the foot drop, so I'm putting my creative and wandering thoughts to good use while completing my daily challenging exercises
OMG, Susan! Talk about a living hell! Sorry you had to go through all that.
We have multiple filtration systems to remove excess iron and soften our well water and a reverse osmosis system to make it drinkable.
My aunt and sister live in separate areas where their well water is very good.
I wish you better luck. ππ
Frank πΈ
Hi Frankβ¦itβs been a rough few days indeed! My mother-in-law would call this malocchio lol. You are familiar with wells from the sounds of it.
We have the worst water full of iron and tannin here so we have a mechanical room full of commercial grade equipment and itβs still not enough. Couldnβt drink anything without the RO either. Glad you and your family have a better situation.
Thanks for your kind words of support! ππ€π
Haha! Yes, Iβm very well familiar with the malocchio! π
If I bypass the soluble and insoluble iron filters, you can actually see the iron in the water.
Without the water softener there wouldnβt be any soap suds.
Half the cabinet under our kitchen sink is filled with Culligan filter cartridges to balance pH, etc.
Of course, then thereβs the water pressure problem going up two floors so I had to redesign the well tank pressure switch to give it a wider cutoff range.
Take a few days off. You really deserve it! π
Frank πΈ
I can sure relate to those specifics, Frank. We had to put in a booster for pressure between the floors too. Good for you for being able to tackle that! Itβs a constant issue. I would like to see that iron experiment. I may just have to rest as this situation has cost me brain cells lol! πΈπ
Haha! I got away without the pressure booster by using two shower heads in parallel with their flow restrictors removed. ππΈ
Wow Susan! It sure is fascinating to see the beautiful creatures that come around to visit. I'm sorry to hear about your troubles.
I hope everything will be fixed so it will be back in working order.
Myra
I'm glad you enjoyed that, Myra. I just wish the picture was brighter. All of nature's creatures are a sight to behold - of course, at a safe distance in this case.
I've just turned the water back on and am hoping for the best now. Thank you for your kind words. ππ
Hello Susan,
I am so sorry to hear about all the trouble incidences that is testing your patience and mental health.
I hope you rise in triumph with a generous outcome of resilience to feel ok and move past these obstacles.
Kind regards
Erica
Hi Erica! Thank you for your kind words of support. You donβt know how much I appreciate that. Iβm ready for calmer days and a better week. Take care, my friend.
So sorry to hear about your last few days of non stop troubles here Susan...
Patience is certainly needed if we want to come out on the other side with our sanity intact in situations like this...
Young Murphy has paid me a few visits recently but unfortunately I never got his home address so I can't help here...
Stay positive, strong and patient dear friend, the week will get better ok!
π€π€
Thanks for your your support, Nick! Iβm trying to retain whatβs left of my sanity lol.
Iβm sorry to hear youβve been visited as well. Murphy needs to be evicted immediately .
I will do my best, dear friend as I know you will as well. π€π€
Always very welcome Susan and stay sane ok!
Absolutely he does, but I fear here, it would take years to process just like everything else!
I do always try my best dear friend!
ππ€
I am doing my best as I know you are too! Sending you much happiness and positivity. ππ»π€
When it rains, it pours! Isnβt that always the case? At least it didnβt create much damage!!!
Sorry about your troubles Susan!
At least now, everything is fixed! π€π
How true, Maria! What a trying few days itβs been. Thanks so much for dropping by. πππ»
Me too, Maria. My mind and wallet have had it! Murphy needs to vacate and leave no forwarding address. ππ

Hey Susan Yepp, the ole well man Is not cheap either. We Just went through that recently.
When you lose electricity, you have no water, and life changes momentarily until things are restored.
It sure makes you appreciate having it when you lose it or pay for repairs, but it is still better than city life as far as I am concerned.
Have a great day!
Chet
Hi Chet! I can relate. So sorry youβve gone through the same recently. You are absolutely right in all your assessments.
Iβve never appreciated running water more than the last few days. When water or power goes down, itβs a major deal. But country life is so worth it! Thanks and have a great day!
