Let The Baking Begin!

Hello WA Community!

I hope Sunday finds you well. There is a cool chill to the air today while I see full cloud cover in my area today. Such is the time of year!

It has been a busy last couple of days which has left me little to no time to work on my business. I had made a plan to get loads written this week, but holiday preparations (amongst other commitments) have been taking up my time.

Alas, I must get on with it!

First on the agenda, was to buy the tree, at the local nursery which you can seen in the cover image. This year it is a 6-foot balsam fir, and it smells delightfully fresh. Now to complete the lights and finish decorating.

My yearly Christmas baking is almost finished. I've been busy making many of my favorite holiday recipes. They are ones that I grew up with and things that bring back fond memories.

The one thing I get asked to make the most are my shortbread cookies. This was a recipe passed down from my European grandmother and they don't last long once I make them. I even have vintage cookie cutters that I use which must be at least 70 years old by now.

Here's a picture of the completed first batch.

There are a couple of other batches made with green and red food coloring which make things a bit more festive and fun to eat. I also made 2 trays of Hello Dollies (or 7 Layer Bars), Lemon Squares and Oh Henry Clusters (not shown).

All this baking makes for great gifts as well!

Alongside all of this work is my constant companion, Manny. He's always keeping an eye on things. And up to his usual kitty mischief now that the tree is inside, unless he is sleeping inside a cardboard box full of decorations,

Time for me to get back to work!

Have a wonderful day wherever you are,

Susan

Yes, Muslimah...Manny and Tig-Tig are tabbies and they all kind of look similar. Thanks for your nice comments and dropping by! Have a great day as well :-)

Wow Susan!
That's not fair!
I'm so happy that I'm losing weight and here you are showing all these yummy, breathtaking, cakes.
I will try to look away :)

Thanks Simone! Didn't mean to divert your from your diet. But if you eat with your eyes, I hear you won't gain any weight lol.

Good luck with your weight loss :-)

Lol
I will definitely eat with my eyes
Thank you for your support

I've been there too, Simone. I dropped 38 pounds a few years ago and have finally kept it off this time. If you need some supporting words, feel free to drop by :-)

Oh wow
Please send me a PM :)

I will soon, Simone. Today I haven't had a moment to sit down.

No rush ;)
I will wait

Wow, Susan! All the festive cheer and "Busy"ness is all around! That IS being very productive in the business of life!

Very well done! I love Manny, and Tig-Tig probably already has a crush on him!
