First Article Indexed on Google
So this is my first blog post on WA. I've thought about writing something for a while now, but I tend to talk myself out of sharing my thoughts in a public domain. I don't have any special training to share or revelations about my website (as of yet) that are particularly notable. But to my pleasant surprise today, I got an email saying that one of my articles has now been indexed on Google. I'm not far into building out my website even though I've been a member for some time. I kick myself thinking that if I'd applied myself when I first joined, imagine how much I could have accomplished on my website over the past 2 years. Every day I'm realizing more and more how procrastination has been a weight around my ankle.
However, I do believe in putting out ideas into the universe with the intentions of bringing about change. I think things happen for a reason. We are meant to be learning things constantly and sometimes it just takes a while longer to realize that and accept it. For example, last week after writing my now first indexed article (which I did exactly to training specs), I surprised myself when I was going through my computer and found an old blog that I had started in 2006. I'd completely forgotten about it but when I noticed the dozens and dozens of posts I'd written about what was relevant in my life at that time, I began to read it. The content was just personal stuff, but I stopped to think about the time that I devoted to writing then, and how after significant time, it was leading to significant content. I was kind of impressed at myself thinking back to how I'd learned how to build a blog all by myself in a time when it wasn't all that popular. If only I'd kept it going and monetized it, maybe it could have turned into a business. But hindsight is always 20/20.
After going through all the training again here, I find myself thinking more about content...how to produce it, what to research and basically just get myself off the old proverbial pot to do it. Haven't quite mastered that yet, but I am working on it with a new sensibility. Although I still have a ton of steps to do going forward, at least I have proven some small measure of success in getting an article indexed today. This was one tiny step that I needed to see to encourage myself to keep on going.
If you're new to all this, remember you can make things happen. You have the potential to create something amazing. But you must apply yourself. And that is sometimes the hardest thing to do in life.
