What is your name? Networking at Wealthy Affiliate

Last Update: July 14, 2016

One of the best things about the Wealthy Affiliate Community is that we get to build relationships with like minded people. And from there we can network and help each other grow our businesses.

Sometimes it is difficult to do this when you have no idea who you are talking to.

Here is an example of what I mean...

While on Wealthy Affiliate I find that I really love a comment that someone wrote and I respond back to them. I want my response to be more personal.

But I don't know their name because they haven't told me it. So I visit their profile page so I can respond to them more personally. I want to get to know them and leave them a note and let them know how much I appreciate them.

But their profile says nothing about who they are. The image is of a man and woman and their "name" is just letters and numbers. I don't know if they are the man or the woman.

So I scroll all the way down their page to find their name in the comments from when they first joined and guess what?

Their name is a generic name like "Pat" that could be male or female.

So I go ahead and leave a thoughtful comment anyway but I'm a little sad inside because I have no idea who they are.

:( I feel like I missed a chance to make a new friend.

Maybe it is just me, but I think names are important when it comes to networking and relationship building.

What do you think?

Hi Wendy I agree. Numbers and letters are confusing. All the best to you and your family regards Louise.

Hi Wendy!
I like personal messages too! It seems respectful and kind to mention someone's name when responding to them.

Hi Wendy, I agree. Many members end their profiles with a name but many do not and I do the same thing. I go down to where Kyle and Carson messages are and almost everytime the name is in there. But that is easy when they are new members. But when they have been with WA for a long period of time, the welcome messages are two webpages away :>)
Thanks and have a great day!

I do the same thing, scan all the way to the bottom. It sure would be easier if folks would just write their names. :)
